That was supposed to be a huge OM lean or am I thinking of some other 2013 baseball prospect?

But, he's a Bulldog now. If I could put a smiley emoticon here, I would.

We need left handed pitching, and I think Tatum is a guy that can help us out with that. I think he is a future SEC weekend starter, but will start out in the bullpen. He throws in the mid 80's, but he is 6'4" and is very projectable. Plays for a great program at Southaven, and he really emerged as a prospect in the playoffs against Northwest Rankin.

He's one of the top five players in Mississippi regardless of position.

Tatum has a big time breaking ball that he can throw with effectiveness, regardless of count. Great pick up by Cohen.

but Cohen really seems to have the Bulldog Baseball train rolling now with the talent he is bringing in. I really believe we are going to start becoming a regular force in college baseball over the next few years.

Before recruiting would drastically increase. Everybody recruits at a high level in the SEC and its good to be doing it again. We are basically over signing every year now and making cuts when needed to increase talent levels. Some people don't like that, mainly Polk, but with 11.7, you have to find ways to be creative and effective. Cohen is doing that which has burned bridges with some State supporters, but if they don't understand the new approach, screw them.

is if you compare how he recruited at UK and at MSU, he is following the same blue print. Heavy on JUCO's to start with, and then push the guys from the last coach really hard. Figure out who wants to be here, who doesn't, and bring in hard nosed players that play their *** off.

Cohen's best classes were his last at UK- which stands to reason.

The first two years sucked. The last two have been more enjoyable. But, we're not quite where we want to be- and where Cohen wants to be yet. Next year, we will finally have a complete team, and it should be on paper at least, Cohen's best team. Main thing will be avoiding injuries. Pitching will probably be down just because we were so damn good last year and we lose Stratton, but it still should be top half in the SEC.

in their respective regionals and how their pitchers were handled by each coach, the decision is easy. Or, in this case, with the kid being an olemiss fan, it probably made his decision tougher.

"but he's OUR *******"....

I like the direction and Cohen is doing a good job...it's called winning... the program is developing players and many more are going to be heading to MLB through this program... any high school player who thinks getting to MLB is going to be easy need to apply elsewhere...

They don't baby you in pro ball. It's actually an advantage in that regard to have a coach that will push you as a player like a Cohen or a Kinnison down the road. If they think you are a *****, they will just release you and let you go play Indy ball somewhere.

Players have to learn that the hard way sometimes because when they play at their high school, they're "the man". They get to the SEC and the other fish in the pond are just as big as them. And then you have walk-ons and players like Pollorena and Caleb Reed who are going to bust it to prove that they belong as well. That pushes the other players as well.

Actually, we need left hand power hitting more than anything now that we have Tatum. Derek Martin has some power as well, but I'm not sure where he'll end up- I keep hearing pitcher.

This class is probably going to be pretty big this year in terms of numbers- I'm thinking 10 on the low side and 15 on the high end. We have some spots and time to get those types of players.
