He is 6'4" and he is a RH pitcher from Wallace State CC-Hanceville and is from Gardendale High School in Alabama. He is kind of interesting because he was a catcher that has been converted to pitcher, and apparently he had a really bad knee injury in high school- I presume from playing catcher, regardless, he tore some ligaments in his knee.

Anyway, his fastball is per Gene in the 88-92 MPH range. I could not find anything about any kind of breaking pitches that he throws or change-ups.

He is going to be a Sophomore next year, so if he stays at MSU, we will have him for three years. To me, he sounds like a relief pitcher. But that might be because the only other pitcher I know that were catcher that were switched to pitcher off the top of my head are Jason Motte and Troy Percival.

He is the final recruit for out 2010 class, and he should be here in the fall.

or should we take this as an indication that at least oneof the drafted signees will probably sign before the Sunday deadline?

Seems Noone was told though except his hometown newspaper who did a story and was just stumbled upon.
I don't think it should be taken as we are losing anyone in the draft though. Just needed more experienced pitchers.

two more JUCO's in this class- and they were Luis Pollerena and Andrew Busby.

So, no, I don't think it's an indication that we expect to lose anyone to the draft.

But yes...I've been here 10 days and it's been 100+ every day. I have forgotten what summer showers look like except for a 30 minute FLOODING friday afternoon.
I'm getting use to it..but the fact is it is hot everywhere in the South this year.

I think Isaw somewhere that it could be better than the last and be top 5 or something. Seems like Cohen is doing well on getting these guys into the program and hopefully they will turn our program around

If you're talking about our 2010 class, it probably will be a top five class. I think we did really well with position players in that class. Hunter Renfroe, Wes Rea, Adam Frazier, DeMarcus Henderson, Daryl Norris, CT Bradford, Garrett Pitts, and Cody Abraham are all players that I really like. Daryl Norris and Taylor Stark are good pitching prospects, but at the same time, my criticism of it is we did not get enough pitchers. We signed some that I feel like are risks in Evan Mitchell, Jamie McMahon, Victor Diaz, and Ross Mitchell. I also don't care for the JUCO guys that we signed in David Bishop and Luis Pollerena. I actually like this Busby guy better than those two. The fact that we had five guys out of our last class drafted is pretty impressive. I just would have liked to have seen some more pitching. I would have liked to have replaced the three JUCO guys with Andrew Pierce from Jones personally. I like a couple of the invited walk-ons that we are getting in Brayden Jones and Jake Smithey. I would not be surprised if those two contribute for us in the future.

If you're talking about the current class that we are putting together, I really like Brandon Woodruff. I think he is going to be a special player, and I don't throw that around a whole lot. He is going to the Under Armour AA Game this weekend in Chicago. I also really like Trevor Fitts, a pitcher from Pelham. I think we are taking a calculated risk with Jacob Lindgren, but if he is healthy, I like him a lot as well. We will know by the spring if he is healthy or not, and if he's not, I think we will move in another direction. Odds are that he will be healthy. I like Jonathan Holder. As far as Philip Casey, he is kind of an unknown to me, but he has good size. Tyler Fullerton has good speed, but I want to see him hit a little bit better. Those last two, I'm a little iffy on and I want to see what they do next year.

But there is no doubt that our recruiting has picked up under Cohen overall. If you're a Perfect Game person, those first three guys I mentioned in the second paragraph are in their top 300 players, and Woodruff is in the top 100 at 65. We're probably going to get two more middle infield types in Mookie Betts and Todd Wilkerson, but after that, I would like for us to concentrate on pitching and stock piling arms like Spencer Turnbull.

Todd, I've read a good bit about Betts here in Nashville and would really like to see him commit. However, I get the impression that he wants to go to Vanderbilt. Have you heard differently?
