I'm surprised we took another 6'6'' foward since we already have Gardner and Hood coming in. Johnson sounds like an undersized PF who plays hard, but he sounds like he is an energy guy off the bench at best. However, I don't have any problem with taking him since we have plenty of scholarships open. I would assume we still want to sign Jurick as well.

Paul is saying we have cooled on Jurick since we know for sure Sidney is returning.

since we only have 3 bigs for 2 positions. With one of them only able to play half of the game due to conditioning and two of them having the propensity to get into foul trouble.

I'm not sure exactly what role, if any, Johnson will play, but we didn't really have any need for Luckett. We already have Hood, Gardner, Steele and Smith (I know), and we are in on some more SG/SF types for next year.

assuming we've given up on Reik and he is not coming back. We need 4 serviceable players to play the frontcourt and right now we only have Sidney, Lewis and Moultrie and Sidney might as well be a SR next year because if we indeed keep him for next year we know it will be his last.

Hood may only be at school a couple of years. Dee and Sidney leave after this upcoming season. Who will the primary scorer be that next year? Probably Hood. If he has a good enough year, he may jump ship after his sophomore year. We have some good options at SF in next years class, but we will still need a backup at that position. I'm guessing if Mike Anderson was recruiting him at Missouri, he probably is pretty quick and can get up and down the floor fast. That fastest 40minutes of basketball takesa certain type of playerto run it properly. He may end up like Wendell Lewis. Raw, but will get minutes because he hustles.

Johnsonwill probably bethat 4 year Riley Benock type senior. Willget very limited minuteshis first 3 years, then his senior year he will be the 5th leading scorer on the team.

He played the 2, and played PG some this year. And he is 6'2''. I highly doubt he plays the 3 unless we are seriously hurting. And I guess you can count the 142 minutes Shaun Smithwas inas playing this year. Not to mention he is stillnot 100 percent from his injury. And I said if Hood leaves early since he may be the primary scorer in a couple of years, we won't havehim at the 3 to play.

Gardner will play the 3, but I think he may see time at the 2 as well.In 2 years, we will have Steele, Deville, and Shaun Smith on the team to play PG and SG, not including any commits we may get. Gardner may have to play the 2 out of necessity of not having a ton of talent there if we aren't able to sign anyone at the 1 or 2. So we will be limited in who we can throw out on the court at the 3. That's why I think Johnson could end up seeing time his senior year.

I think everyone needs to realize that in Stansbury's "system" he only has to have a true 1 and a 5... The 2, 3, 4 are interchangeable and size isn't really a concern. In fact, Stans is more likely to go small than big. That's why you'll always see a true big guy and a point, but the other 3 are based on a combination of our personnel and our opponents personnel.

And because Phil Turner was probably the 2nd best rebounder on the team. He was the only one besides Varnado who could get in position to get a rebound. Osby was a freshman, Brian Johnson was not really a scorer, and Elgin was not very good. Phil could body up on someone really well, and could shoot the outside shot. He was our best scoring threat at the 4, even though he never went into the post.

Jalen will never play the 3 as long as HoodandGardner are at MSU. </p>

I know how Stans is with Freshmens, but I think Hood and Deville will be exceptions like the RSS, Bost and J-Money were...

When he has freshmens that can play, he plays them. You listed 3 "exceptions" yourself, but there are more. Austin, Hansbrough, the Delks, etc. etc. And yes, I know that Hans and the Delks didn't start as freshmens but they got more minutes than the "starters" did and they were the ones in the game at the end.

I don't think there is any doubt that Hood starts from Day 1, but for the most part Stansbury tends to stick with upperclassmen over freshman. I don't really see Bost moving to the 2 in his senior year after starting at point from his first day on campus, but I could see him playing a small chunk (maybe 10 minutes or so) of his 35+ minutes a game at the 2 if Smith is as good asadvertised.
