So as far as we can tell there will no longer be subdivisions in High School football. Subdivisions were introduced in 2002 and have been a staple for 18 years for playoff seedings. Also there will be a trimming from 11 regular season games to 10. Even though I do like the 10 game schedule what took the NCHAA so long to get this out. Right now many schools have their schedules set for 2021-2022. I fear there will again be a large amount of teams scrambling for games due to the fact that new conferences are going to be formed. Lastly I wonder how the playoffs will be done, will they add a round , have play in games or just 16 teams east and 16 teams west? I ask this because even though we have not played this season we are only 8 month away from next season.

Well it takes us out of the hunt.
No way a school with 350 kids is going come close to beating Reidsville with 800 kids. Maybe one every 20 years. I think a percentage of fans will leave the stand. Hope it loses nchsaa alot of money.
I agree with you. Totally unfair to schools like Robbinsville and Piedmont and others that now don’t have a prayer of winning titles in football. Reidsville has zero business being in 1A. I don’t care how many kids they have on free lunch. Same with Piedmont in 4A.

The only way you don’t subdivide and it can work is if NC went to like 6A to balance it out across the board

I feel like we may see a New Indy emerge (Not say they win back to back 7x) but I can see a Vance , creek , Catholic n Wake Forest n such dominating the 4A playoffs every year

Not in the next 4 years. 2021-2025 realignment is a go. If member schools want to move to a 5 class system, NCHSAA would have to change the by laws and at least 75% of the member schools must vote on the move to a 5 class system. I think that is right on the vote but someone may need to check me. I know that not even 75% of the member schools voted on the possibility of the 5 class system when it went up for vote last time.

Well, one problem is they didnt vote on 5 classes. i think THAT would have passed. I think "4 or more" would have passed. But they voted on giving the board or realignment committee the choice to do any number.
There has been legit talk from some people of going to 3 classes, then subdividing for the playoffs. This would be disastrous for many schools, especially if they got stuck in a league with a bunch of bigger schools. I think that affected the vote.

Also, the state came out with all these "things to remember" which scared a lot of people. its very strange. Now they act like they want more classes, but when the vote happened, everything they did hurt that from passing.

We need, in my opinion, 5 classes, with the 1A and 5A classes being smaller than 2-3-and 4, as 1A and 5A is where the numbers disparity will lie.

i DO NOT like using the ISP stuff.

I DO think it time to either put every charter/prep school below a certain number in their own class, and/or give them their own playoffs.

Im jus scratching the surface.

But i like going back to 10 games. Also, they are keeping 64 playoff teams so the season is a week shorter, but the playoffs are a week longer. thats ok with me.

The predetermined brackets are not ideal, but noone can agree on anything, so I am begrudgingly ok with that. Seeding was good in theory but everyone has such different ideas that it was impossible.

Also- while discussing playing someone is certainly happening, it is impossible to construct your actual football schedule for next year without knowing your conference. So noone SHOULD have completely done their schedule anyway. If so, they should know its not set in stone.

This IS very late for teams to have to schedule. IMO once that draft comes out DEc 10 they should wrap this sucker up by the middle of january so teams can set their schedules, but im hearing itll drag out till march
