It probably won’t happen. However, while not on Bama’s level, PSU still is a brand name in college football, and there aren’t many of them. By the way, before Saban went to Bama, they were stuck in mostly mediocrity after Stallings left, so things ebb and flow. By the way, if Bama loses tonight, they would’ve missed the expanded playoffs two seasons in a row.

There literally 4-5 posts from the last few pages saying that TOS has the leak and the guy is Deboer.

Now two pages later, it’s always been long shot and it’s not happening.

So we’re down to a bunch of random rumors and Terry Smith (who just should’ve lost to Rutgers).

Great.

Deboer is the big catch they are trying to get an absolute yes. Sitake and Hartline are the backups if he says no. Best I can tell. Better learn about Sitake as he may be our next coach. I do not believe Chesney and Smith are actual candidates.

Sitake is a good coach. But I just don’t see the fit at all. Makes zero sense IMO

I don’t believe he has said no based on when I’m reading elsewhere. But regardless, I can deal with this final three, although Sitake is the weirdest fit. He is obviously a very good coach, though. And as we saw today in our lucky win versus Rutgres, Terry, God bless him, is not ready for this job by any stretch of the imagination.

Seems like Deboer is who we really, really want, and Sitake and Hartline may be fall backs. Sitake honestly is just a weird choice, a coach that seems to do a lot with limited resources, similar to a Matt Campbell and a very hard nosed culture building guy, but total west coast. Evidently Lincoln Riley has jumped in at the last minute looking at different opportunities but it may be too late to jump in the mix with us.

it appears to me that I would go Hartline. Sitake came in late and do not think he is a fit at all at PSU.

If even a third of that is true, then Kraft is screwed. It’s December 1 on Monday and he’s no closer to a coach than when he fired Franklin two months ago.

Yep. Like I said the guy can coach. And Penn state has certainly done well with coaching hires of Mormons from Utah … but this one seems like a very odd match up

I agree with this. I have no inside info, but I think it was Hartline 3-4 weeks ago. The Kraft-Day interaction before our game was a bit telling to me and there’s been no change in the modus operandi of Hartline or OSU. No extension, no addressing or refuting the rumors that I’ve seen, just a focus on finishing the season. Probably had an agreement to keep the announcement until after the regular season and big ten championship game so it may be another week until we have a HC announcement.

I don’t believe that’s true at all I think it’s more than likely that the three coaches I mentioned all have psu offers, two of them being conditional. We will know more tomorrow or Monday. Obviously Bama is playing a game at the moment. One thing to consider is that elite coaches need NIL funding guarantees for the roster. I am not sure we have the resources to be in the top 5 or 10.
