Urban Meyer for 10 million per year for as long as he wants to stay.. Hire Hartline as the OC and the next head coach in waiting.

That's a nice sentiment, but that train has long since left the station.I am old fashioned and still believe in the idea of success with honor. That eliminates Meyer for me.
Yep. It's a little different than it was 35 years ago when a choice dorm room in Hamilton Hall was all the player could be set up with. They all still had to attend study hall twice a week back then as well.Urban would be as close to a slam dunk hire as possible.
There are reports that money was one of the issues in the locker room this year. Success with honor is dead. These kids are pro athletes and need to be treated as such.
If we need to treat the players like pro athletes, Urban should definitely be moved down the list. His track record while dealing with pros has been well documented.Urban would be as close to a slam dunk hire as possible.

Agreed. If that were still alive, then we would have just kept JF. JF was a wonderful representation of SWH and actually seems him trying to keep that, cost him his job.Urban would be as close to a slam dunk hire as possible.

There ain't no honor amongst thieves and that's what it is now. Its robbery all across the board.I am old fashioned and still believe in the idea of success with honor. That eliminates Meyer for me.
There's no way Kraft could sell that to Penn State. Any head coach with a sub-500 record at BC won't be under consideration for this job now.I posted this elsewhere but Jeff Hafley will be offered the job. Will he take it? Idk. But coached in pros and college. Will have the money to compete which he didn’t have at BC. Football junkie. Not a cheerleader. Besides he’s worked w Kraft. Son do u want to go to the league?

He'd be an awesome defensive coordinator. I don't see how a couple of years with the Packers vaults you from 'mediocre at BC' to the 'big swing' that is being soldThere's no way Kraft could sell that to Penn State. Any head coach with a sub-500 record at BC won't be under consideration for this job now.
Right. Michigan cheated their balls off to win a championship. The NCAA acknowledged it and still let them keep their championship. There’s no deterrent to cheating or being unethical anymore. You’re almost a sucker to bother staying within the rules anymore. There ain't no honor amongst thieves and that's what it is now. Its robbery all across the board.
I have to respectfully, but vehemently, disagree. SWH did not cost Franklin his job. The fact that Franklin did not improve his game preparation and gameday coaching over 12 years, while regressing as a recruiter, cost him his job.Agreed. If that were still alive, then we would have just kept JF. JF was a wonderful representation of SWH and actually seems him trying to keep that, cost him his job.
He may not have felt the same after Urban’s time with Jags. That's a nice sentiment, but that train has long since left the station.
Please don't forget that Joe was in favor of Urban succeeding him.
How about the DC from a Super Bowl contender? There's no way Kraft could sell that to Penn State. Any head coach with a sub-500 record at BC won't be under consideration for this job now.
Just because the rules allow players to paid NIL in an open market does not mean that success with honor is dead. Playing within the rules, holding your players to high moral standards and having success is the definition of success with honor. The rules changed. When players are allowed to be paid and they get paid for playing, it is not dishonorable. If players are allowed to transfer and they decide to transfer (just like any other college student is able to do), it is not dishonorable to transfer or accept transfers. The players back when Paterno was coaching were not inherently more loyal to PSU and were not inherently better people than those who play today, rather, the players back in the day were handcuffed by the rules.Urban would be as close to a slam dunk hire as possible.
There are reports that money was one of the issues in the locker room this year. Success with honor is dead. These kids are pro athletes and need to be treated as such.
...or Saban's time w/ the Dolphins? Rhules's time w/ the Panthers? He may not have felt the same after Urban’s time with Jags.
My argument is if Urban is the guy, it should be based on his track record while dealing with “college” athletes and not pro athletes. The pro athletes Urban dealt with despised him. The real question is, can Urban be as successful during the NIL era? The dynamics are completely different now.Again, what you do in the NFL has NOTHING to do with what you are in college. See: "Saban, Nick".
Damn straight Urban should be the guy.
CFB track record is what matters here. Kraft understands the optics of this hire too well to go the NFL coordinator route, IMO.How about the DC from a Super Bowl contender?
NCAA does not run the 1-A football championship or playoff so they can have their opinions but they're toothless as far as 'vacating' that championship like they do with other sports.Right. Michigan cheated their balls off to win a championship. The NCAA acknowledged it and still let them keep their championship. There’s no deterrent to cheating or being unethical anymore. You’re almost a sucker to bother staying within the rules anymore.
A former teammate of my son who now plays for the NY Giants told me last week that he has a 20-something year old teammate with a Masters who when asked what his Masters was in, replied that he couldn't remember. He was pressed several times about it too. I guess that was to take advantage of another year of college eligibility. We were lucky to enjoy football when success with honor meant something.Yep. It's a little different than it was 35 years ago when a choice dorm room in Hamilton Hall was all the player could be set up with. They all still had to attend study hall twice a week back then as well.
If they vacated all of their victories, it would look ridiculous for Michigan have a championship with an 0-12 regular season record. It would have been vacated.NCAA does not run the 1-A football championship or playoff so they can have their opinions but they're toothless as far as 'vacating' that championship like they do with other sports.
Naw. HC in college so it’s not the NFL coordinator route He’s hiring someone he knows wellCFB track record is what matters here. Kraft understands the optics of this hire too well to go the NFL coordinator route, IMO.
lol. Dude, college teams are becoming NFL light. It matters. And Urban’s issues were not just W and L.Again, what you do in the NFL has NOTHING to do with what you are in college. See: "Saban, Nick".
Damn straight Urban should be the guy.

Greattttttt! (Sarcasm)re the audio/video above w/ Lavar. He comes right out and says that there is a divide between the JVP lettermen and the CJF lettermen.

Exactly. Rhule may turn out to be a great choice, but if you're going to blow 50 million you better make a bigger splash than that.Just imagine the reaction in top programs if, after the hoopla from Kraft and the media horse-a$$, PSU were to hire Rhule.

It is BS.Sounds great. Probably BS.
It's still different. You can recruit in the NFL. Trades are tough. Free agency is tough. College is way easier even with NIL. He can basically run everyone off and build a teamlol. Dude, college teams are becoming NFL light. It matters. And Urban’s issues were not just W and L.
Wait, is Urban going to be on Bilema’s staff or is Bilema going to be on Urban’s staff. You flip around d more than a fish out of water, but that is because you are trolling.
Why would a 65 year old coach be the top candidate? It doesn't even make sense. A top candidate that has 2 years of experience in P4 football? It is BS.
It's a short list and Cignetti is at the tippy top of that list. It's my understanding that all on the list are HC's no coordinators but I guess that could change. Supposedly everyone on the list has expressed interest. Why wouldn't they even if they truly weren't.
They probably only need him for 4-5 years. All the guy does is win. Today 65 is nothing I'm 77 I have a job I love; I work every day it's outdoors it's a physically demanding job I've retired three times from desk type management positions that had a lot of stress tied to them. Today 65 is probably the new 50. How old was JoePa. The next guy can be that 35-45 year-old coach. Why would a 65 year old coach be the top candidate? It doesn't even make sense. Elko would have to he ahead of him. Other younger coaches would. Simply not buying it. If it happens great but can't see a major program making that decision for anyone that old other than Saban or Urban.

Having said that he may not take the job and use this opportunity to get a raise and pretty things for his program.
But if it were me getting a chance to go back home (pa) and maybe be one of the highest paid coaches in college football in one of the hottest recruiting areas that's right out your back door? I would have a hard time saying no.
I like some of those other guys too, but I don't get to choose if I did, I might opt for one of those younger fellows tied to the state or the east. I like your choice I really do, and it could end up being him.
I’m not sure Urbs has dealt with NIL, transfers in and out, and bitching parents. Has he?If we need to treat the players like pro athletes, Urban should definitely be moved down the list. His track record while dealing with pros has been well documented.
We are Cornell!I would love this from Kraft’s next PRESSER.:
”I know that many of you anticipated that I would announce Penn State’s next head football coach today, but I have a different announcement. After much consideration, Penn State’s administration and I have decided that the college football landscape no longer matches Penn State’s values. As a result, Penn State will cease all football operations immediately. I would like to thank all of you and all Penn Staters for their support of Penn State Football over the years and trust that you all will support this difficult decision. Now I will open it up to questions.”
