Lol, is "Joebot" supposed to be a bad thing? PSU will probably never be as good as they were in the 70's and early 80's and it's ok to reminisce about the good old days.Spoken like a joebot. Joe being great is irrelevant. He is dead. You won't be happy til Joe's corpse is introduced at the press conference.
Franklin is nowhere near the worst. He finished in the top 10 multiple times vs most coaches who never crack the top 20 like golden, rhule, schiano and O'Brien.
Rhule has never beaten a team that finished in the top 20 ever!
yes but there will be more openings and more opportunities. What is the true speculation around Deboer? Here's what I'm gathering:
Other random notes that have been thrown out there by anonymous message board users - "announcement today," "TOS is saying done deal," "there is no shot."
- He and family are unhappy / feel out of place in Bama. Culture shock. The expectations at Bama are unrealistic.
- His agent has been in contact since the beginning
- He allegedly interviewed
- He's still probably going to make the CFP and play into at least December
- Most believe he needs to lose to Auburn for this have a shot
- He can't be vying for an extension (a la Elko), because his seat gets warm after a single loss
- A BOT member may have leaked things could be further along than anyone thought
Did I miss anything?
Or to step back from the best program in the country to not the best program in the conference.
I agree with your overall point, and he isn’t leaving. However, given the current landscape, you could argue that Alabama is no longer a top-five job in its conference—potentially behind Texas, Georgia, LSU, Florida, and A&M.Or to step back from the best program in the country to not the best program in the conference.
Which has made me start to feel better about the separation.VT was his only attainable option, or he wouldn't be there
For 15 mil a year as reportedly offered to Elko I could see it.not saying he wouldn't leave, just that he wouldn't leave for us
Still don't see anyway KD rolls from Bama on his own.Kiffin to Bama if KDB to us. Bank on it
Do you believe labeling someone as a "Jotbot" is insulting?? If you do, you need a history lesson my friend.Spoken like a joebot. Joe being great is irrelevant. He is dead. You won't be happy til Joe's corpse is introduced at the press conference.

Freeman? lol, good lord he's not leaving ND for Penn State.Jon Sauber and Audrey Snyder on their podcast - their rankings:
1a - Marcus Freeman
1b - Kalen DeBoer
2 - Brent Key
3 - Bob Chesney
I'm told Chesney is another CEO type, so not sure I want that. I want someone who is a strategist/play caller. Freeman also a CEO type and really, he's not leaving ND. So, DeBoer and Key would be my top two but I'd still be in for Chesney if he's the guy.
I would wonder how much the budget of the smaller schools would allow the HC to purely function as a CEO ?Jon Sauber and Audrey Snyder on their podcast - their rankings:

The notion that DeBoer's wife (or any other coach's wife at this level) has any real sway is nonsense. FBS coaches are highly driven, ambitious, egotistical individuals. They are making generational wealth and family is secondary and the wives largely accept this. Their kids are gonna move around from school to school and getting "settled in" to one place probably low on the priority list. You get one life to achieve generation wealth and then you're gone and these families know that
Its Sauber who represented that Chesney was a CEO type, but listen to him long enough and you should take everything he says with healthy skepticism. Places like Assumption, Salvae Regina and Holy Cross do not have room for CEOs. Freeman should not be on that list. I am sure if Kraft included pink unicorns on the search Freeman would qualify, but saying he is in the top four but he will not come is like saying he is not on any realistic list. Key is on record saying he is not interested (he could be lying, but I am not willing to immediately discount what he says). Realistic options on this list are DeBoer (somewhat realistic) and Chesney and anyone else not leaked (I suspect there are some in the latter group)Jon Sauber and Audrey Snyder on their podcast - their rankings:

He didn’t say Freeman was likely to leave. He just said that he was one of their top choices along with KD, and that it wasn’t 100% officially dead yet.Freeman? lol, good lord he's not leaving ND for Penn State.
I heard a couple so called pundits mention Jeff Hafley but don’t see it he is in line for possible NFL jobs. Its Sauber who represented that Chesney was a CEO type, but listen to him long enough and you should take everything he says with healthy skepticism. So you don’t think Deboer is voluntarily leaving one of the best jobs in the country for a lesser program with almost as much pressure, a far worse roster, in a far worse recruiting area, and in an area of the country to which he has no connections? Interesting take.DeBoer is sitting on the #2 class for 2026. What is the history of coach leaving when he's got a class in the top 3 ready to sign in a few weeks? I can't see it happening
He would be a homerun hire for PSU but like you indicated, possibility of good showing in this year's CFP and #2 2026 class seems like there is no reason to leave unless him & his family are absolutely unhappy.DeBoer is sitting on the #2 class for 2026. Excellent DC. His tenure at BC as a HC was poor (but it was BC)I heard a couple so called pundits mention Jeff Hafley but don’t see it he is in line for possible NFL jobs.
Yes. Misery can be a huge motivator to leave a good job.He would be a homerun hire for PSU but like you indicated, possibility of good showing in this year's CFP and #2 2026 class seems like there is no reason to leave unless him & his family are absolutely unhappy.
What, Bama no longer a top 5 SEC job? You can't be serious. LSU & Florida are a mess and Texas continues to underperform with exception of last season's CFP appearance. A&M is seemingly on the upswing, yet they were nothing special until this season.I agree with your overall point, and he isn’t leaving. However, given the current landscape, you could argue that Alabama is no longer a top-five job in its conference—potentially behind Texas, Georgia, LSU, Florida, and A&M.
You mean his glory days?Yes, his in game decisions were often atrocious: Time management and going for 2 too early (see Minnesota 2019), amongst them. But for me, what was most nauseating was repeatedly snapping the ball 4 yards back in shotgun on 3rd or 4th and one. So many of those runs were stuffed for no gain or a loss. Those decisions halted many drives. Frankly, the only decision he made that "wowed" me was the fake punt against Minnesota late in the 4th quarter last year. I will concede that won the game.
Freeman's probable next stop is OSU if Day goes to the NFL.Freeman? lol, good lord he's not leaving ND for Penn State.
I guess I find it hard to believe him & his family are that miserable.Yes. Misery can be a huge motivator to leave a good job.
Selling point: It takes 3 losses here!his seat gets warm after a single loss
Tuscaloosa isn’t the only place DeBoer can earn generational wealth though. And you also only get one life to… enjoy life. The notion that DeBoer's wife (or any other coach's wife at this level) has any real sway is nonsense. Might be easier and cheaper to find a new family. /s maybeI guess I find it hard to believe him & his family are that miserable.

I heard on the 247 podcast that there is no confirmation from Tech insiders about reciprocal interest from Key. I don't think it is him.Its Sauber who represented that Chesney was a CEO type, but listen to him long enough and you should take everything he says with healthy skepticism. Ahh. The 1950’s and 60’s mentality. Seems about right. The notion that DeBoer's wife (or any other coach's wife at this level) has any real sway is nonsense. What if there’s no playoff run?Again, the timing for DeBoer doesn’t work. He isn’t going to leave bama in the middle of a playoff run.
I wonder if ND fans lamented hiring Freeman because if Day leaves OSU, Freeman is gone and won’t stay long term?Freeman's probable next stop is OSU if Day goes to the NFL.
Exactly.I wonder if ND fans lamented hiring Freeman because if Day leaves OSU, Freeman is gone and won’t stay long term?
You said he didn't beat a top 10 team this century. OSU was #6 when we beat them. You were wrong, but yet you continue to argue. Pathetic! So they weren't top 5 when they played.
You do the opposite for Franklin. When he beats a ranked team and they drop you don't count it.
I guess you have never been to Touscaloosa - makes Star College look cosmopolitan.I guess I find it hard to believe him & his family are that miserable.
