I don’t want Rhule, don’t get me wrong.

But the talent difference is the biggest factor in this game, not coaching.
It’s not the things like guys running away from each other that make be think he’s terrible.

It’s the things he has control over like the end of half strategy that made no sense and that his defense just runs itself out of gaps every other play but they continue to do it.

So not much different than what the last coach was bringing into the program in recent seasons. Unless I was misreading the ratings, the 2026 recruiting class wasn’t that special, or at least that’s what many on this board were saying because I don’t take the time to watch Joe Blow play against some outmanned A or AA high school team that has about twenty players on it.
If you believe that then you probably want to flip rosters with Nebraska.

Michael Robinson just made a serious statement on national television.

Pat Kraft “didn’t have a plan” and other coaches “are using (PSU) for more money.” And whole heartedly stood behind Terry Smith being the next coach.
That is speculation on Robinsons part. He does not know the plan.

Coaches and their agents leverage their school for more money and they might not even be in the mix. That is their schools problem.

Doesn’t matter who I name you’ll just say they weren’t good…that’s an easy and lazy way to argue and you take it every time.
Try me….name a few? Let me start for you: O$U in 2016.Give me a tne signature road wins. Purdue?

The reason you will not bite as you know you will make an absolute fool of yourself as there are none!

I can rattle off a bunch that I have attended when Coach Paterno was in charge. Heck, I can name more in one random month than Franklin has in his entire career.

I’ll give him the same length of time many on here gave Franklin…about a half a season.
Most have people the better part of a decade…and we are still waiting for signatures win #2.

And guess what, we will never see his first signature road win at PSU. He is a healthy 0 for 11.5 years.

Terry is a fantastic recruiter.
For a little levity from his HS coaching days:

Can’t see Pat Kraft making it much longer at PSU. I don’t know if anyone blames him for canning Franklin, but it’s clear he’s in way over his head finding another coach.
Hes terrible. This is getting butchered. Smith ain't the guy. But he might get stuck with him.

MR's comments went beyond speculation. He was overtly advocating for Terry Smith.

I smell something......Terry Smith is trying very very hard to get the HC job, including the recruitment of media personalities to speak on his behalf. MR's advocacy seemed a bit contrived to me.

Spoken like a joebot. Joe being great is irrelevant. He is dead. You won't be happy til Joe's corpse is introduced at the press conference.

Franklin is nowhere near the worst. He finished in the top 10 multiple times vs most coaches who never crack the top 20 like golden, rhule, schiano and O'Brien.

Rhule has never beaten a team that finished in the top 20 ever!
I respect Joe, but Im sick of hearing about him when it comes to football. Move on people. Do Bana fans have Bear Bryant references in every thread?

So you're saying Neeli and Kraft are NOT aligned? WTF!? We've been lied to all year.
Why do you put words in peoples mouths and make strawman arguments where there is no argument. I said what I said and that's all I said. To make something else out of it is you stirring the pot.

I also enjoy listening to him, but saying that was distasteful.
Robinson is a former letterman who, I’m sure, is part of the discussion with the other lettermen. Perhaps, he is also revealing the feelings of the group of lettermen? It would be interesting to get LaVar’s take because he is on the sideline for every game and has a son on the team. Will he advocate for Terry also? He usually doesn’t pull any punches, he’ll reveal how he feels on his XM radio show or through social media.

To me, Kraft letting this search drag on as long as it has creates what we had last night- players and fans holding signs in support of Terry, former players including Blackledge fawning over Terry, fans chanting his name. Kraft has now put himself in a corner. Only out is to hire Terry or hire big big name like Deboer etc. Key Chesney Drink won’t satisfy now.

Frankly, I want see a different type of football player than what we’ve been seeing from a lot of the old coach’s recruits in recent years; I want to see more substance over style, and I want to see players who are less soft both physically and mentally. VT now can turn into a physically and mentally soft program, which they will under their new coach.
You mean like the players who Rhule conceded physically dominated his team last night?

Don’t know about Bear, but the few Bama fans I know have suggested that steady comparisons of the current regime to Saban may be the reason why an outstanding coach like DeBoer falls into our laps.

Too bad; don’t read them if it offends you so much. I’m sick of the posters with Franklin Derangement Syndrome bashing him in every thread weeks after he was fired, but they have every right to do so. Shouldn’t they move on too?
