Where did it go wrong with Chesney? What are the insiders saying? Seems like that was a layup hire.
Precisely but I got trashed for saying that.I believe Kraft should be doing that if he hasn’t hired a coach yet
To verbal commitments which mean next to nothing...I get what you're saying but it's not a current concern IMOAgree that it's a lower priority at this point but other schools are already locking up top players.
Ah poor baby.Sure. Putting you on ignore for both our sake. Ciao.
Everything has changed because now as it turns out Sexton has/is sabotaging this process because we didn't handle small game James, 1-18 James, 4-21 James, after 12 years when this dbag couldn't even say he was committed to Penn State or wanted to coach here in a press conference, and tried an end run around the AD to get more money. Unbelievable. This guy Sexton is the God of college football and he dictates what happens based on whether his clients get whatever they want regardless of results. College football is an absolute putrid turd. What does that have to do with Kraft’s failure to hire a coach?
Kiffin, Chesney and Sumrall all signed already so no that's not what I said at all.So you just want to eliminate any coach in a conference championship game, any playoff contender or for that matter any of their assistants? Because that's what you just said.
Yes, in 5 years VT will be a much better program than PSU. Not just because they have Franklin, but we won't have enough players to field a team next year. Wait until we hear about the mass exodus to the portal.Like I said it will be a revenge laugh. Do you really think VT will be a more prestigious job than PSU 3-5 years from now?
IMO the biggest thing he'll like is that he won't face as much pressure (which I think was really getting to him). Fans will be more understanding of 8-4 or 9-3 at VT.
No way in hell the We Deserve Better folks would stand for that. By the way, Franklin won a Big Ten Championship in his 3rd year. That should be a piece of cake for the new coach don’t you think?
Or 0-12How are our fans going to be with 3-9 or 2-10?
Once someone is hired, everyone who is a fan should spin it as a homerun even if you don't think it is. The support of the fanbase is absolutely necessary for any coach to succeed. Give the guy a chance before you assume he will be a failure. The problem will not be with the spin of eternal optimists, the problem will be with the spin of eternal pessimists. We know there's a contingent that will spin absolutely any hire into a home run.
To your point, I don’t believe Sitake is the right guy in this scenario. My point is that if you truly believe one guy is better than the next, then waiting absolutely trumps settling (patience being the virtue and whatnot).Sitake is absolutely not a good enough candidate to be betting all our marbles on as being the "right guy". I'm fine if they signed him... yesterday. But there's plenty of questions surrounding how well he would work at PSU that you don't go waiting another week for him and potentially not even get him.
And honestly if he is really considering the PSU job then he's a moron for not signing now. He would only be making his own coaching situation at PSU worse if he waits until next week to sign. If he is willing to postpone signing, it's almost certain that he's staying with BYU.
Jimmy Sexton.Where did it go wrong with Chesney? What are the insiders saying? Seems like that was a layup hire.
Only thing I heard was that Kraft turned him down. Didn’t hear the specific reasons just that they were ridiculous. Then again that could be completely made up.Where did it go wrong with Chesney? What are the insiders saying? Seems like that was a layup hire.

Ok, I’ll check back in on psu football in 2031Like I said it will be a revenge laugh. Do you really think VT will be a more prestigious job than PSU 3-5 years from now?

Gotta love Sally Ann, making you a bigamist even in Utah.In fact you purchased the ticket for Ms Cavanaugh
Sure, if he is negotiating with DeBoer I guess I could understand though I still think it is unwise - I'd rather go with the bird in hand but I tend to be a lower risk kind of person - but Sitake is indistinguishable from a bunch of other options. To your point, I don’t believe Sitake is the right guy in this scenario. My point is that if you truly believe one guy is better than the next, then waiting absolutely trumps settling (patience being the virtue and whatnot).
That's crazy especially if your goal was to chase someone from Mormonville for weeks and then not close the dealOnly thing I heard was that Kraft turned him down. Didn’t hear the specific reasons just that they were ridiculous. Then again that could be completely made up.
Who? Diaz? Al Golden? I would not call them solid coaches. Besides that, who is left? And after we see who portals, we may be lucky to have 50 scholarship players. We survived a couple of years with 65 scholarship players and a black eye to our national reputation - deserved or not. It isn't the end of the world. We will have a coach and a good one. Maybe not the big name, splash hire everone wants, but it will be a solid coach.
If only Penn State had someone , like maybe an athletic director, who would be tasked with managing such things and be responsible for understanding the climate and could build a plan about getting it done. With all the heads employed by intercollegiate athletics, maybe we can hire one of those?Everything has changed because now as it turns out Sexton has/is sabotaging this process because we didn't handle small game James, 1-18 James, 4-21 James, after 12 years when this dbag couldn't even say he was committed to Penn State or wanted to coach here in a press conference, and tried an end run around the AD to get more money. You hire the best coach periodKiffin, Chesney and Sumrall all signed already so no that's not what I said at all.
And if a coach in that situation isn't interested in signing now then absolutely yes you move on to someone you could have announced 2 days ago.
He's apparently not an option anyway.Sure, if he is negotiating with DeBoer I guess I could understand though I still think it is unwise - I'd rather go with the bird in hand but I tend to be a lower risk kind of person - but Sitake is indistinguishable from a bunch of other options.
This is delusional...across the boardYes, in 5 years VT will be a much better program than PSU. Not just because they have Franklin, but we won't have enough players to field a team next year. Wait until we hear about the mass exodus to the portal.
By beating SMU and Boise State...He also made it to the Semi-Finals of the first Major College Football Playoff. I doubt new guy ever wins a b1g title or makes it to a Playoff before he's sent packing given the hole Krafty The Clown is going to bury them in.
Maybe that was big game James problem. LolOnce someone is hired, everyone who is a fan should spin it as a homerun even if you don't think it is. If true, I'm about to jump on the Kraft blew it wagon. Should have done better than Sitake and now it's possible that he will do worse.
Potato State makes it sink in even moreBy beating SMU and Boise State...

I can't believe UCLA is willing to invest in football the way some other B1G programs will. Chesney will also be at a recruiting disadvantage on the west coast vs Oregon, USC, and Washington. That really would be a hell of a waste, going to UCLA? Nobody's going to win anything there. They might as well give that job to golden hair. It's almost so stupid of a decision that either I can't believe it's real or Penn State really didn't want him to begin with.
Jeff Brohm. Great offensive mind, has always developed very good QBs and receivers, and he wins with less talent better than almost any coach in the country including Cignetti. He’s also a born and raised Louisville guy and is one of the few that hasn’t signed an extension yetWho? Diaz? Al Golden? I would not call them solid coaches. Besides that, who is left?
