Iowa fan here Campbell good coach and by all apparent metrics a good man. I think he will fit in well there. Congrats I know he has turned down a few other programs. Going by rankings his recruiting was only ok but he wasn’t recruiting to Penn State then.
I laughed at the shambolic 2 minute “drill” against UCLA. Less a precise military-style “drill” and more like your head in a vise as someone runs a drill into your head. My laugh was the laugh of someone in a lunatic asylum

But it’s not, the right thing to do is thank everyone at Iowa State and move on to the job you are now employed to do. He has far more important things to worry about than a bowl game his former team is in.
I’m happier with Campbell.

I didn’t realize Campbell played for Mt. Union in college. Most of our HS assistant coaches played there back when I was in High School and the university hosted the Sectional Track meet that I competed in back in 1975. One of the best ever Div3 football schools ever and the program is nationally recognized. I also used to moonlight in Alliance, Ohio in the late 80’s and drove past campus all the time. If Campbell is the official hire, it really hits close to home for me.
Maybe you should heed your own advice and stop blaming Sexton, Jay Paterno and Lubrano for Kraft’s failures. I don’t recall O’Brien or Franklin kissing any rings.
I don't believe Chesney will be as successful at UCLA as he would have been at PSU given Chesney's east coast recruiting contacts and the challenges he will face on the west coast from USC, Oregon, and Washington.
Campbell while at ISU was blessed to bring recruits out of Ohio, NJ, and Florida. He'll have to work into the DMV, PA, VA, and the Carolinas.
