If true I am somewhat disappointed. He has the speed but just doesn't seem to be a "football player".....meaning that I have seen a lot players with less talent produce a lot more. The only logic I can put behind this is maybe it helps with Tobias.

Supposedly Tobias Singleton's best friend. Some people see it as a way to get Tobias to commit. Some think he may be good enough to play some DB in college. I don't know for sure but if you recall, this was the guy that didn't get to make it to the Big Dawg Camp because "his driver got lost and ended up at Ole Miss". FYI Singleton was in that same car and was supposed to work out at the Big Dawg Camp.

I saw his highlights a while ago and they were pretty good. I know alot of people who have seen him play in person think he's most likely not an SEC player, but who knows, after he redshirts he may be able to contribute as a junior or a senior for us. You never know. It definitely helps with Tobias though. We really don't have a lot of targets left either....Tobias, Brassell, P.J. Jones, David Reeves, Derrick Milton, Dominique Harris, and a handful of others. There's always going to be a few projects in every class, and Price is one of them. He does have great speed. He actually kind of reminds me of Jesse Grandy at Ole Miss.

Of course, you never know, guys could develop into players, I have faith in the staff, yada yada yada.

However, that makes 3 undersized, underwhelming RB commits. I understand that this is mainly a big move to get Singleton, but it better work.

This class is looking really shaky. Hopefully we can make some noise in the coming months and grab a few more big players.

I will credit the staff for landing the following can't miss players (3):
CJ Johnson, Dee Arrington, Jermaine Whitehead

I will say that I think the following appear to be solid pickups (8)
Nick Redmond, Dak Prescott, Zack Jackson, James Maiden, Joe Morrow, Daniel Knox, Darius Slay and Devin Fosselman.

However, we have some curious pickups in the following (7):
Rufus Warren, Devonte Scott, Josh Robinson, Joe Price, Justin Cox, Benardrick McKinney, Preston Smith.

HUGE PROBLEMS:
We have 1 DL committed and he weighs 215 lbs. We lose McPhee and have already lost Bell and McKenzie. Paging Leon Mackey.
I don't see a dynamic RB.
I hoped to see a JUCO OT and JUCO LB in this class - haven't seen much on our radar. I hope CJ Johnson comes ready to play. I think Arrington will fight for an OLB spot too.
We need to be doing a lot better at TE. That has become a position of need all of the sudden.

He can't have committed because as we all know this is the kid that the OM bag man refused to drive to Starkville for our camp, and therefore was unable to work out for our coaches, thus leading to the rampant complaining that a good kid would not be able to get an offer because of that damned OM bag man. Therefore, he cannot have committed, since obviously Mullen was unable to see him work out, and the OM bag man would also obviously not allow this to happen.

I think Josh Robinson's speed will make him pretty explosive/dynamic in this system. I like the Preston Smith get. He has some good offers and should do well under Balis.

I think we lose a couple of current commits. Some by their decision, some we drop.

We're still after Riles at WR/TE and don't be surprised if we end up with Patterson out of JUCO for the same role.

Mackey is A1 priority right now.

This won't be a preferred walk-on, and I doubt it is a greyshirt. This is clearly an attempt to land Tobias, and a smart play if it lands him.

He will be the first kid to go to MSU to play football since 1996. So I have been told. Madison has a large number of MSU alum. Very strange.

Mark Lynn from Madison Central is on the team and has been for several years. He has gotten playing time in the past. However, he is a walk-on, not a scholarship player.

It's only strange if the school has hada long history of MSU alumni as headfootball coaches.

Video here LINKof Joe Price and Justin Cox racing several others at the Tupelo Combine in May. Who won?

Btw...Cox has the fastest timed 40-yd at the combine with 4.45 I think...Price was only a couple tenths of a second behind in the timed runs.

I think Price may have gotten robbed on the big race in the video.

He is a good player. He is fast. He has not looked as good this year as last, but he had some problems with some leg cramps earlier in the year.

I am no football guru, but he certainly is, in my opinion a D-I player. He has D-I speed and will fit pretty well into a spread offense. I really don't think that he is a DB. Again, just my opinion. But he is a guy that can make some plays with the ball in his hand- on offense and special teams.

Let me say- he is a player I like. I think this is a good pick-up.

Also Cody Upton, and I believe Mark Brown also played at MSU.

I will say that MC has only sent walk-ons to MSU, but no scholarship guys. Until now.

Guy blew out both knees, battled depression issues maybe, maybe ended up at linebacker or safety, had a funny name. Coco maybe? Surely somebody can name who I am talking about with a very clear and very accurate description like that.

guy knows how to play football. With that said he is a great kid that is very popular at the school but he may have some work to do in the classroom. I don't know how all that plays out but that is what I have heard.

Coco Hodge and Clarence "Prime Time Number Nine" McDougal (sp?) from Clinton. Hodge broke his lower leg his senior year and had nerve damage. He never played again. McDougal messed up his knee(s) but evidentally came back and played linebacker for us. Prior to his injury McDougal was an amazing player...man amongst boys.

Seemed like they always had a few big recruits when I was in college. Did they just have a flukish run for a few years? Do they still produce D-I talent?

They maybe don't have any big time prospects, but they are no worse than the third best team in MC's district behind MC and maybe Northwest Rankin this year. Typically, they are the second best.

..was the most dominant player on a high school field I've ever been able to watch. His senior game against Warren Central was Reggie Bush-highlight film material. Against Starkville on a field that'd been rained on for 2 days in November and after Clinton had lost all 3 players in their offensive backfield, they moved him to running back and he carried the ball roughly 30 times for 300 yards (I forget specific numbers). Offense, defense, special teams... he was more of a force than was Dontae.

Good dude too... think he coaches juco now.

One of the best HS games I've ever seen was the 1999 Madison Central - Clinton game. Madison had 5 players who made it to the NFL and Clinton had Dontae Walker and Coco Hodge (who was also a Dandy Dozen player). McDougal was by far the best player in that game though. It wasn't even close. I was really glad to see him come back from his terrible injury to be a productive LB for us. He was nothing like he would have been without the injury though.

He did everything for Clinton. They beat MC in 2000, which was a team that had a lot of talent on it as well. The only thing that could stop him was an injury. He was still a darn good LB.

Clinton has produced a ton of talent- Tony James, Brian Hazlewood, Dontae, Clarence McDougle, Coco Hodge, Dominic Douglas, JJ Grant.

D. Scott: I dunno how you think he's an odd pick up. Explosive guy with the ball in his hands. He'll be a scat back/slot WR/return man. He's a good looking prospect<div>J. Robinson: He's 5-9 205lbs I believe. He looks like a solid guy physically to me. He also runs a 4.3 so that pretty much makes him the fastest guy on the team. He looks to be a great pick up and a good change of pace RB.</div><div>J. Cox: Freak athlete judging by seeing him play in person and on film. He's a bonafide CB</div><div>P.Smith: Great offer lists, gonna build into his body. He's plays good competition and has compiled some nice stats this year.

if it helps land singelton, fine. As a MC grad it is a well known fact that Bobby Hall has a bromance with Ole Miss and will do anything he can to lead tobias elsewhere. Including giving Houston Nutt reach-around
