I would love to know why we have metal detectors. I know when we got them we were told it was an SEC requirement but at least two of Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas did not have them last year....I don't recall which ones.

And we're the only fanbase that has most people carrying something metal in.

It's primarily fallout from 9/11. And you never know - some might be "carrying". I never thought the metal detectors slowed entrance down, but also never waited until the last minute to go in.

But apparently people are only "carrying" to football and basketball games because there are no metal detectors at baseball games. Myself and many others carry in carving knives every week to games at The Dude for meat slicing and they never say a word even when they occasionally want to look in the big non clear bag that I carry in with other essentials in it

The walk thru ones are a lot more recent, within last 10 years. If I had to guess, I’d say it was after the big mass shootings in Las Vegas and the nightclub in Florida

Still.....it's not a conference requirement, apparently, and several of the bigger schools in the conference aren't doing it. So why are we?

Do you think I'm one of those? I'm just asking questions. I think it's silly and probably pointless given that they explicitly tell us how to bypass the metal-detecting features, and I've seen how diligent the attendants are about it, but I'm not pissed.

Would be nicer if they could, perhaps, accurately display the participating teams' current win-loss records.

They just give you more and more reason to not deal with the hassle.

I mean historically there have just been so many fights were people get stabbed or shot at MSU sporting events. We should get the Mississippi National guard out there too.
