Is this player related to the great Jerry Stovall from the NFL ( St Louis Cardinals, I believe) STovall was a super duper safety, and pro bowl player

That's tough. It's too bad Blades didn't have his head on straight, because that would be his spot.

If Blades really wanted to be here he would have been.... i want players like this that want to be here and bust there ***

Why bag on the kid? What is done is done. We do not know all of the circumstance, whatever, it is over and we have to move on. I wish the kid the best and would still love to seem as a Husker someday.

He was nowhere close to being able to be in Lincoln. But, ya...that's on him

It is, he had a pretty clear path to get eligible and didn't take advantage. Glad to hear this Stovall kid is getting after it and has already passed some older, talented guys.

Sure you did, you said he didn't want to be here and apparently he didn't bust his (there/their) ***. I don't know his particular circumstances, maybe it is all his fault, maybe not, maybe there are others things going on. Not sure how you can get in his head and say he didn't want to be here and he didn't bust his *** - I suppose you went to class with him. Not everyone who tries real hard gets the job done.

Except he said in an interview that he had 2nd thoughts about coming to Nebraska and that is why he took the JUCO route instead of the academic redshirt. Although I am not sure he had the grades and test scores to be an academic redshirt, just taking him at his word.

Not to bring the thread back to Jeramiah Stovall or anything...but this kid is going to get some PT this year. He went against 1s and 2s off and on all day. On just about every drive he's either the lead tackler or an assisting tackler against the 2s and did well against the 1s. Stovall covered Reimers/Rahn all afternoon and when Tanner Lee was in the game, he seldom threw to them when he was guarding them. For how short we are at the field corner spot, this kid needs to just bring his lunch pail everyday and could earn some PT quickly. Fast forward to these times during the spring scrimmage:

11:22, 11:55 (assist), 13:06 (drives and tackles Tre Bryant 10 yards back), 24:17 (covers a long Tanner Lee pass), 24:59, 43:49, 1:26:55 (covers Tanner's home run ball and shows off some serious speed),

He showed more in those clips than I've seen from Lamar Jackson. Hope Lamar is getting his physicality right this fall camp.

Lamar's early issue IMO was hesitation. He seems to really have the coaches confidence now, you are describing the next step

I didn't watch Lamar a ton in the spring but I do remember Bob Elliot really wanted Lamar Jackson on the field because of his size, frame and speed. It will definitely be a gamble having him out there but in the long run I hope he is right. What I do know is if Stovall keeps the mentality I saw on the spring game tape, he will see the field at some point this season.
