Some guys can't be replaced no matter what your depth is. That same 2014 season Murphy lost Cox first play of the third game to a torn ACL (and also lost their fullback Roberts for most of the year same time) they ended up pulling up McRae up from JV because they had no other options, but he wasn't ready to be a feature back. Murphy went from giving a Franklin team that went undefeated in the regular season and played in the 2AA western final all they could handle, to getting rolled by Gilmer County and losing twice to Robbinsville. Now Gilmer and Robbinsville were obviously really good teams that year but neither were as good as Franklin. Cox had come into that year in great shape for the first time on varsity and with a more mature approach and it really showed, those first two games he looked like the best RB at Murphy since Jake Smith and was well on his way to 2,000 yard season. Murphy's line was not great that year but Cox was really just that good.
