There were way more butts in the seats on TV at the ULL game. Don't know about the upper deck.

Isn't the Supedome capacity 70k? I can't believe there were only 15,000 empty seats at the Sugar.

The Orange Bowl announced some big attendance number and it looked like an Ole Miss game in the 3rd quarter.

I saw a couple of shots early on in the Orange Bowl game, and there were a lot more there than I thought there would be. It's about the fullest I've ever seen that stadium. It wasn't packed, but was probably at least 90% capacity. A lot must have left at halftime ... I didn't watch it til the end.

Apparently that goes for the BCS bowls too, although parts of Florida are pretty close to NO. I'm thinking the problem at the Sugar was because the last time they went, they were paired with Cincinnati. And this time, they got Louisville. Both teams are "beneath" Florida, at least in their eyes, and in most other SEC eyes too. There must have been some sort of boycott, maybe not officially but there nevertheless, by the Gator Fans.

The Music City was well attended ... Vanderbilt was there. The Sun was surprisingly well attended, but it's a small stadium and they said soldiers from Ft. Bliss were there in droves ... might've been free for them. The crowd looked generic with few team colors shown. Most of the other bowls have had pathetic attendance.

N.O. bowl tickets are relatively cheap ($40) and the Cajuns only had to drive 2 hours. Also helps that most of their fans have friends and relatives to stay with in town. May as well have been a home game, ECU had about half of one section filled in the dome, Cajuns owned the rest.

cajuns bring a cold boudin sammich and drive back to Lafayette after the game. NOLA doesn't make any money.

Do they need to? The NO bowl is a public service they write off on their taxes. Between the Saints, the Pelicans, the Super Bowl, the Sugar Bowl......... They could care less.

And that's even suggesting that none of those creole 17ers went to Bourbon before or after.

I was walking around all weekend and there were no gator fans anywhere. Louisville fans everywhere. I knew they were going to win just by how much they outnumbered the gators.
