I would probably go to the new PF Chang's where Flo & Eddie's used to be. Or Ruth Chris Steak House at the old Cheers in La Galleria.

mongolian beef.

eta: It's not a buffet either but worth the wait; also don't get the hot, or it will burn the next day too.

Zorba's is terrible and I like greek food. Everything on the menu tastes the same. They use the same 5 ingredients in everything. Unless you have a craving for feta cheese, stay away.<div>
</div><div>Jean Cafe is ok. Tastes just like the rest of the chinese food in Starkville. The fresh made cream cheese wontons are good. The rest of the stuff can be easily found on any chinese buffet in town.</div><div>
</div><div>La Terraza is average at best. Same people work there, same people are cooking. They remodeled the building and now people think the food is better. Its the same. </div><div>
</div><div>Umi is great, but nothing special. Standard habachi stuff. The Veranda is still good. And now I don't even bother going to Harvey's since The Grill now has most of the stuff I order anyway.</div>

I thought I'd never see "Bojangles" and "good restaurants" in the same thread. Not that it isn't good, but you might as well add chik-fil-a and hardees.

You better get it for Take out or the woman will kill you with her stories of other patrons who have bounced checks, spilt the salt, etc...she will talk you down until you hate the delicious food her high husband makes in the back.

Try Zorba's....its no Keifers, but still delicious.

And she loves her cream cheese wontons and the customer who has eaten at her place 500 times in the last year with receipts to prove it. Don't start a conversation is all I'm saying!

The rather verbose woman in question is my mother-in-law. Thanks to all for the kind comments on the food.

On the issue of the food being like every other buffet in town: maybe you're right, but at least you know that your order was cooked fresh for you at Jean's.

Yes, she's a talker, but believe it or not she is a lot less chatty than she used to be. Hard to believe if you have ever eaten at the restaurant, but true.

I haven't been back in a while until this past season and noticed Restaurant Tyler but didn't get to eat there.
The menu looks amazing, but no one ever talks about it?
What is the deal?

aTotal360 has his opinion there- but mine is definitely different....

Zorbas- never been there- can't comment
Jeans- Excellent food- made fresh and from scratch- worth the wait
La Terraza- Excellent Mexican food- better than any place we had when we still lived in Jackson-we go there every Sunday after church- its that good.
UMI- for Starkville-it is finallygood to get an habachi type place so for that reason it is better than if you compared it to one you may find in Jackson for example...

this football season. I went 4 times and each time I remember thinking "Ok, last time they messed up it will be different this time" and each time I was not impressed. I loved it in undergrad but this past football season left a very bad taste in my mouth (NPI).<div>
</div><div>Jean's Cafe is awesome, if you can handle staying there 45 minutes longer than you anticipated because she wont stop talking to you.</div><div>
</div><div>Zorbas is not the best Greek food but its the best in Starkville, I have always enjoyed it.</div><div>
</div><div>If you are there on the weekend I would hit up Restaurant Tyler brunch. Went there Sunday after Arkansas and it was some of the best brunch I have ever has. Amazing.</div><div>

with suggestions like Bojangles, it really is a surprise that CiCi's wasn't mentioned...or Wendy's, KFC, McDonalds. Bojangles. Seriously.

both are moderately priced for the food and drinks. Sure there are some expensive stuff on the menu but the majority of the food is reasonably priced. Drinks are excellent at Veranda. I take customers often to both and rarely ever had a complaint. As sugested Umi is also very good.

Retaurant Tyler is good but IMO not an better quality than the 2 mentioned above. A little more swanky food that is reflected by the price.</p>

It may be pricey for some people, but the food is outstanding. And I eat at Anthony's in West Point at least every other week.

Go to Restaurant Tyler or Grumpy's. Tyler is expensive but very very good. Grumpy's has good food too - good barbecue and fun with a group of friends, order some pitchers and watch sports when they have the big projection screen on.

Sushi Martini was really good the one time I ate there as well.

food is average at best. on par with The Station and a little better than Old Town Grill. Not even in the ballpark with Anthony's.<div>
