Southern fans supposedly didn't need him. Now, he's all of a sudden not that good to him.

Sounds like a good idea. CDM plans on using several receivers in his offense anyway. For the present use the new juco guys along with arceto, delmon, and mcrae, and put the RS on smith, bumphis, and hopefully patterson.

The chances of us redshirting an entire class are slim and none especially with the offensive players. Crooms left us with little. Whether you like it or not, players like Russell and hopefully Bumphis will be playing, not sitting. Do you really think we can make it thru a 12 game season with only Relf and Lee at QB? Also, Mullen already said he wanted to play up to 8 receivers. With McRae still very questionable healthwise, it's going to take every signee this year just to get up to that # of receivers.

So they're saying the same thing that every fanbase says every year when a player changes his mind.

He won't make the grades.

Unfortunately, the only chance we have of being competitive right now is to play Tyler Russell and should we land them, Bumphis and Patterson. In a perfect world, I'd like to RS those guys, but as you said, we have nothing except some decent RB's and a pitiful o-line for them to try to run behind.

That said, we need to get some JUCO o-linemen to come in as well. Unless we decide to try to run the A-11. (Why the hell not? It wouldn't be any worse than what we've already done.)

We will be improved just by the fact that it's obvious that Mullen is not going to try put round pegs into square holes.

Also, the only guy that mentioned it on the USM board said "he could've contributed, but I'd rather sign HS players." That sounds pretty logical to me. That's not the same as "he's not good enough now".

Does he not understand that we don't do "quick fixes" in Starkville? He's clearly not doing things the right way by properly laying the foundation for a team that is basically just as crappy in four years as it is now.

He's visiting Florida right now. There is some confusion as to whether he is on an unofficial visit and staying with some friends or actually on an official visit. Regardless, he doesn't have a UF offer yet but that could obviously change.

I think the concept of a redshirt is over-rated nowadays. You just can't afford to shirt an entire freshmens class now. Wasn't it just this year or last that Florida was playing 17 true freshmen? Where would Alabama have been this year if they were adamant about redshirting Julio Jones? Redshirting a OL or DL who needs to bulk up and work on footwork is one thing, but if a receiver is ready to play, let em go.

if you think Russell is going to start over Lee unless he gets hurt. Plus, with proper coaching, Relf may end up being decent. Relf will do much better in this system than what Crooms was trying to run. And 13 is still on campus, so Russell redshirting is going to be very likely

but I highly doubt that MSU is going to be very competitive next year regardless. Now before you gnash your teeth and yell for a banning hear me out. Croom didnt recruit well, this is well known by all of you, and the few good ones he has recruited have been used horribly over the years. The defense that has helped keep you all in the game for the last couple of years is mostly gone after this year and it going to be very difficult to replace them right away. I think for the most part your depth at most positions is very thin and until you get a couple classes in there and can add to the talent level and depth its going to be a very nasty uphill climb. Im not judging this off of the OM vs MSU game, im basing this off of the last few years of watching you guys and am trying to be as nonbiased as possible. Red shirting Russel will be good for the long run of your program, and I believe that even if he plays next year it will only equate into 1 or maybe 2 more wins for the year, if that. Lee is not a bad QB, he was just in a bad system and being confused on a weekly basis by his coach.

Lee could be successful. He didn't have that bad of a year considering he was getting beat down almost every play and it was his 1st year of SEC ball. Personally, I don't want to throw Russell in there behind our pathetic O-Line. I would rather Mullen and Co. have a year to build a solid line, and give Russell the chance to be successful. And who knows, maybe Mullen and Co. can work some magic and make our O-line at least serviceable next year.

5-6 games next year...Many of you are about to see really how inept the previous staff was. Lee can be decent with good coaching and will do a solid job for us next year. Crooms didnt leave us with great talent by any means, but coaching has hampered us more than anything.

It's not even close. Coach is right, the only way Lee doesn't start for us next year is if he gets hurt (there is a slim chance that if Carroll does stay, he might be able to beat him out for the starting job). Russell really needs to redshirt if at all possible. And if Carroll does stay, it just may be possible to get him that much needed redshirt.</p>

would have us in a bowl. (Well, the two wins of course).

Heck, with assclowns as coaches, bad players and no depth, we were only about 11 points away from going to Shreveport (La Tech and UK, or I guess you could sub Auburn for UK). The only reason we had a four-five year rebuilding program was because Croom chose to go that route. We could have won a LOT sooner if he had done some things differently. Our defense will be OK as long as we hire a decent DC, which is anyone not named Ron Cooper, our ST will be better, and our offense will be better, whether Russell or Lee starts. Then we have seven home games and road gauntlet that includes Vandy, MTSU and Auburn and Arkansas teams that are down and then a decent UK team. I'll actually be disappointed if we DON'T go to a bowl next year. It may be in Birmingham, but it counts.

I'll only be surprised at how inept they were if we come out and win 9 games or something. The thing about this year was there was literally something that happened every week that was so asininely stupid, you would have thought it was off of a TV show or a comedy with Will Ferrell. And that was just this season. We didn't even punt from the 30 this year.

but you also have to take into account just how easy your schedule was this year. Auburn is at its worst it has been in a long time, you had Kentucky, Vandi, and the wort Tennessee team in well maybe ever as your east rotation and then 3 very easy ooc games. That should be 7 wins right there. Ark was crap too and you beat them, so that should have been 8. GT, Bama, LSU, and Ole Miss were your only real tough games this year. So what I am saying is that next year is probably not going to be nearly as easy a schedule and then your defense is taking some major hits from graduation. I think your D will still be decent, but down and agree that your O and ST will be improved. The question is will they improve enough to outscore your opposition when they are able to score more as well?

Again, I am not trying to put MSU down, I am trying to be as objective as possible, but I truely think its going to take 2 good recruiting classes to get everything in place. I havent actually looked at your schedule for next year, but I think it is suppose to be more difficult and will make the transition even more arduous.

reconsider his transfer? Anyone? Anyone?

I really think he could be a decent spread option QB.
