Someone needs to put in a Mama Goldberg's. Would rake in money.

I'm not impressed with the one in Huntsville, so I don't see what all the fuss is about w/ Mama Goldberg's. Maybe the ones in Auburn are much better, but I'll probably never know.

Desperately need an Italian restaurant, I don't even care if its faux Italian like Olive Garden, just something.

Only been to the one in Mobile. I don't know about the others.

All depends on management. The Doe's in Starkville was terrible, and in no way comparable to the one in Greenville.

Disagree, because Mama Goldberg's was just that good.

However, what kind of restaurant does it need?

Italian? I agree, but the better Italian restaurants to me are family-owned and usually have had them for generations. Olive Garden is okay, but nothing to get excited about.

I'd take a Cracker Barrel for sure, but they kind of like interstate locations.

Mama Goldberg's is good, it really is... I've had it before. Think about it, though... 2 Bulldog Deli/Sweet peppers, 1 newks, 1 mccalister's, city bagel, 3 subways, firehouse, Oby's AND Mama goldberg's... WAAAAYYY too many places to go get a sandwich in a town with under 30,000 people. To be honest, there just isn't much difference between them.

I agree an italian place would be a great addition. Even if it is an Olive Garden... However, NOTHING beats a Dave's calzone... NOTHING.

Add Larry's to that sandwich list.

Dave's food is great, but it is wise to call in your order almost an hour before you get there.

Does this anti-Ole Miss policy apply outside of the food and beverage industry? Do you screen your doctors to make sure there's not some dirty Bear working on you?

I'll have you know that Rover seems quite happy with his veterinarian. But we taught him from an early age not to discriminate.

I rode by what is/was Tokkro's (sp?) downtown (like two spots down from Zorba's) the other night. It looked like they were setting up a restaurant in there. I had never seen the inside of that place before, though.. The windows have always been covered. Judging from my quick drive-by, it had a deli look to it.

I wish Starkville could get a top shelf steak place, on par with Shapley's, Ely's, or Tico's (on its good nights. Been hit or miss my past few trips). Other than that, a Greek place similar to Keifer's would do good. I have no idea what the gyro joint on top of restaurant tyler is like.

I suppose it's a matter of taste, but I disagree. Krispy Kremes are melt-in-your-mouth good, but you have to get them hot, straight out of the fryer.

When I was in school eons ago, there was a Shipley's near where the Hampton Inn is now (across the street going toward the water tower). Is it still there?

You're right, not going somewhere because it's "Ole Miss-owned" is crazy. Unless they filled the walls with a bunch of "Best of Ole Miss" pictures, I don't see any reason to not go. Good food is good food.

same with politicians. I'd rather take an Ole Miss-graduate politician who agreed with my political views than a Bulldog alum who was a gun-grabbing, wealth-redistributing Socialist.

Lost Dog is also good (yes, I know Dave's is there). I don't care, it's good. Good atmosphere, good beer, good specialty pizza's.

I still vote Mama Goldberg's. It's not like a McAlister's or anywhere like that, but I guess you need to go to the right one to know what I mean. BUT- I haven't lived in Starkville in a while, and I forget about some of the newer places opening up. I don't think about Oby's because it's way the hell out of my way. Don't go to Subway(s), got sick of it a long time ago. Don't go to Firehouse. Didn't know there were 2 Bulldog Deli's now. Whatever else- my bad.

I also like Que Sera down here.

Shipley's in Starkville to me isn't the same as the one in Greenville.

Maybe it's because I didn't get there as early as I could in Greenville, but it just never tasted right.

Not for me, but I don't live in Mississippi. I go to McAllister's whenever I want to ... I like the place and the food is good. And my opthamologist is an Ole Miss grad and I like him. I didn't know he was a Bear when I first went to him, but it wouldn't have mattered. Now we talk a little good-natured trash when I go in for a checkup ... it was easy for me up until last November so he may get me back the next time I go. My regular family doctor is from Alaska, and I believe the specialists I go to on occasion went to UAB and Vandy. Our vet for the cats is an MSU grad, however.

I had heard that Olive Garden has bought some property over near Buffalo Wild Wings but whether or not they have any plans to start building is beyond me. I would like to see a Golden Corral and Red Lobster come in personally.

If y'all want a real donut, you need to get to Ocean Springs and try out Tatonut. Nothing compares.

A place people don't ever think of Cowbells. Yes, I know its more of a bar, but this year was awarded top 10 Steaks in Mississippi by the Mississippi Beef Councel, also very popular for wings. With all the TV's and easy access to the highway, its a great stop on the way in or out of town.....
