That's 1/3 of the equation Al.
I'll shift from the court room to basic math and rock and roll. Meat Loaf sang 2 out of 3 ain't bad. But 1 out of 3 sucks.
this is incorrect. You should be using a weighted average because the kicker should comprise at least 50% of the special teams grade. Whats the last time a kick returner or punter won a game? If kicker shows dramatic improvement while the other units show a small dropoff, overall the unit is better off.

Sad thing is it was not just lack of QB development and coaching. The most experienced coaches on that side of the ball were high school coaches. Let that sink in....
Experienced Coaches don’t want any part of a rebuild, and dealing with Greg, unless they are handsomely paid. The prior coaches did the best they could, and at least they got us to competitive from dreadful.

Al. Stop. Yes no one is leaving Bama to join Schiano’s “rebuild” staff. But you don’t have to take a patriot league coach to be the WR coach 2 high school head coaches and a couple guys from Princeton(although one had one year experience not installing an offense at Oklahoma state)
It didn’t make sense. 1 or 2 guys with minimal experience with an experienced core, but all with minimal experience it makes little to no sense. There were candidates with experience that would come at the same exact salary given to that crew.

People are too harsh to @rutgersal.

It's almost like positivity is unwelcome here.
I love positivity, but dislike delusion. Everything is sunshine and puppy dogs. His prediction on special teams is silly considering we don't know who the returner will be, Jai Patel has not kicked in a college game, and neither has the new punter.

Even Aaron Breitman is not this positive. He's predicting 4-8.

You do when you’re doing a rebuild and have to work exceptionally hard at the job. Candidates with experience wouldn’t touch these jobs. It’s not like they didn’t try. Rutgers is a particularly difficult job to recruit because we rarely get our first choice recruits and resources do not compare with the big guys. So tons of recruits have to be vetted.

Al is a great guy. People get on me for the same type of posts. I think positivity is powerful and the various teams need our support more than our criticism.

Generally speaking, fans on a message board will say whatever they want because there is no repercussion, but when you get to know the coaches, players, and families it's a lot easier to appreciate them as humans and the endless hours they put into perfecting their craft.

@rutgersal - keep being you buddy, I love it !

I don't see anything wrong with being honest and speaking how we feel. I'm generally positive about the direction of the team. Pretty much every writer that covers the team, analyst, the guys who run this site and Aaron Breitman (Mr. Positive) have said there are huge question marks on offense and special teams. There's a difference between being continually negative and having honest discussions. Nobody I'm aware of said anything negative about a particular player in this thread.

I agree with you here but too many people on this board are guilty of cloaking their negativity under the guise of being realistic.
