It's a 17ingsandwich/salad place. The term "chain" should be overlooked if its justsandwiches.A Newk'ssandwichbeats many of the local places in Jackson. That said, home town restaurants are, of course, always better. Right?

Newk's is by far the best sandwich/salad joint in town. The sandwiches and soups are always done well....and they offer beer and wine. They also serve Sweet Tea with sugar <span style="text-decoration:underline">or</span> Splenda....something you just don't see everyday.

Great concept and is spreading like wildfire across the South.

I haven't ever had a sandwich there I liked, and we're talking about pretty generic stuff (grilled chicken, etc..)

Pizza is decent, but way over priced.

Granted I'm not a fan of paying for overpriced sandwiches, which most, if not all, deli's are. Newk's tends to bring the uppity Ole Miss type crowd. If you walk into the Newk's around the Jackson area, and you don't think you are the best person in there, then you're the only one thinking that.

I don't know how to feel about this. While on one hand I like newks better than some of the other deli's and glad that starkville is getting another restaurant, on the other it seems like at least half the restaurants in starkville are deli's. Starkville to me just doesn't seem to have much variety. I'd like to see maybe another restaurant like olive garden or something similar, chain or not.

It will be interesting to see how something does on that part of town.<div>
</div><div>Smart person whoever opened Newk's in starkville. I go to the Newk's in Flowood pretty regularly, and it's extremely uncommon to go there at any time during the day and it not be packed. Good food, quick service and really good prices.</div><div>
</div><div>Not sure of the whole story behind newk's, but from what I heard, the family who started McAlister's, sold their portion of the business for who knows how much, then waited around until he could legally open another similar type of chain, while researching the entire time what people wanted, and then came Newk's. I'm sure they're making a ridiculous amount of money with Newk's. </div>

Plus they have the coolest salad bowls for shoveling greens into your gullet I've ever seen.

And the Newk's favorite salad is the only salad I'll ever order at a restaurant. It's freakin delicious.

Newk's, like Abner's and Gateway Tire, are Oxford restaurants, owned by Ole Miss Alum. Don't patronize these people, or Cellular South!</p>
