I had several college grads working with me at a local NJ hospital for the security department at a small hourly wage for anyone paying off student loans and trying to exist.
Some of them listened to me and applied to various Police Departments that were hiring around the East for new applicants, with much higher pay rates !
My Grandson # 2, who wrestled thru college at Buffalo and West Virginia, starts at the Police Academy for the NYPD on Wednesday. At least 6 members of his family are or have worked or retired with the NYPD. Including his Mom and Dad, Amanda and Matt !
He has been working at a local village public works dept, but was making more in wrestling school teaching local kids.

I think Trump's anti-drug policies in Mexico are excellent. I think he not just has done a good job, but I think it's one of the few issues he sincerely cares about helping make lives better.
That said, as we've repeatedly discussed, Covid is largely what spiked OD deaths, and while they lagged the downturn in crime (still going btw), OD deaths peaked in August 2023, 17 months before Old Joe left office. So often are social phenomena somewhat independent of policy, even if good policy can make things better.

On Sunday, the Department of Homeland Security posted a montage of former Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins tackling other players in response to a post alleging a “huge migrant caravan headed towards the US southern border.”
The DHS account also posted a photo of Dawkins captioned, “The border is closed.”
In response, the NFL requested DHS to remove the video.
“We have not seen a caravan headed to the U.S. southern border in several years, why now?” Greene wrote on X. “Oh yeah, there is an election coming and the GOP needs to scare you into voting because nothing else is working.”
Greene was once a major promoter of these bigoted ideas and policies, but she has since had a major public break with Trump and the MAGA movement.
For years, Republicans have promoted reports of “caravans”—and conveniently made those claims in election years.
With a major push from Fox News, the right clung to the caravan storyline in 2018, just a few weeks before Democrats took control of the House in the midterm elections.
