Looking at our 2011 schedule:

Auburn loses Newton and Fairley early
Georgia loses Green and Houston early
Kentucky loses Cobb early
Bama loses Ingram, Dareus and Jones early
Arkansas loses Mallett early

Plus, the guys we are losing to the draft as seniors will make us look good to recruits. And nobody's leaving as juniors.

Sets us up for a good run in 2011. Should be Auburn and start the year 3-1. Beat Georgia we're 5-1. Lose two of three to Carolina, Bama and Arky and we end up 9-3 which would be one hell of a year in Starkpatch.

I'm still hoping for 7-5 but all the NFL losses do work in our favor. We're not beating LSU no matter what, though.

I don't have a 100% lock on the Auburn game just yet. Can't imagine what sort of environment the Dogs will be walking into when they hit the Plains given everything that we stirred up this season. And don't forget Arkansas has a helluva replacement for Mallett. I don't see them being 'down' just because he's no longer under center next year.

Truth is the SEC will be the SEC as usual. We caught the breaks this year on a couple games with players being out or suspended (GA, Houston). And that was the difference between the Liberty bowl and the Gatah friends.

Hoping that your assessment is right and losing that talent to the NFL will benefit us when we match up against them.

and don't get me wrong, I'm not calling it a lock, just saying it sets up well for a run if we can perform in those games as well as take care of business in the 'should win' games.

Mallett is a talent like Newton, not easily replaceable. That 'difference' you speak of? Well, that's just football. How come nobody gives MSU the benefit of the doubt when it comes to injuries? They don't, they say we just suck. Well it's simply not true. Injuries/suspensions are part of the game. You think La. Tech gives two ***** that Derek Pegues didn't play against them?

We go through the meatgrinder that is the SEC every year, but the SECW was off the chart good this past year. I know I don't have to remind anyone here just how good our side of the conference was (5 top 15 teams, NC + BCS bowl, etc).

Considering that we went 9-3 through all that with our losses coming only to our other SECW brethren speaks volumes about how competitive our team was on the field - and the difference is coaching through and through.

This team would have washed the remains of Croom's squads from their cleats.

That this summer we don't shoot up any cars or get too many DUI's or beat up an off duty cop or get in a brawl at a local watering hole.

that we are losing. I'm pointing out that we don't have any contributors leaving as juniors. They are all seniors and theoretically we should be prepared to absorb the losses like college football teams are supposed to.

And considering Ole Miss's losses, they did have another successful year and probably should have improved their record (they had no business losing to South Carolina). It was only their lunatic fans that thought they were going to the national title.
