I agree adding a WR would be nice, but improving their secondary and adding a TE are both a much greater need IMO. Ben threw for nearly 4000 yards last season and they're adding Bryant - I think they're okay there. Meanwhile their secondary got shredded most of the season and they don't draft a CB until the 3rd round? And while I love Connor I don't think they needed a RB there. The league has proven you can find a great RB in the later rounds and with the Steelers offensive line, they didn't need a RB there. They should have loaded up on defense in 4 of their first 5 picks.
Having said that this is coming from the person that loved the Jarvis Jones pick and didn't like the Bell pick so what do I know?
"Crushed it"? They got yet another young QB that they will throw to the wolves just like you said they wouldn't - you don't draft a QB in the 2nd round and not expect them to contribute immediately. And they got no skill positions for their QB to throw to. They got a lot of other good players but don't have a QB, RB, WR, etc. And they probably hurt their chances for Darnaud, Rosen or Allen next season.
Uhh no. I feel pretty good about what I wrote. Drafting the 4-5th best QB when you don't have one is pretty dumb, especially when you traded out of the best QB from the previous draft who's proven he's pretty good.
I guess their long term strategy is to keep avoiding adding good QB's when they're available to you? Sounds good to me as a Steelers fan.
I can't wait ro see year another terrible character guy cost the Bengals in crunch time and then listen to their fans blame the Steelers.
It's harder to trade players after they've been picked because the draft moves fast. Easier just to trade the pick. I'm good with this system bc the Bucs got oj Howard bc of itI don't understand why teams don't draft best available. For as bad as my Jets are, they've drafted fairly smart the last few years, and have only been burned by injuries. (three years prior to now, they were awful at drafting). They grabbed Jamal Adams who was the best pick at #6. They needed him.
But what if they didn't? What if they needed some cornerback who was drafted 10th? Why would you NOT draft "best available" no matter the circumstance, and then trade for the guy at 10th with a chance to get a 3rd round pick added on?

In all honesty I'd just trade down with the best offer, because you never who wants what player. Also it's probably harder to trade a high value rookie after you've drafted himYou don't even need to do it that night. You would lose out on gaining extra picks for THAT draft though.. but you could still swap players, and get an extra player or a future draft pick. A lot of analysts think you should go HA no matter what.. I just wonder, why not take it a step further? I'd draft the best available guy at 6th.. knowing we might need some offense around say.. 10th, 12th, 15th.. And see who bites. Those teams might need that playmaker at 6.
I was thinking the same way. I grew up in Louisville from the 60's to early 70's and all that was on the TV and radio then was the Reds and the Bengals outside of UK of course. So, I became a fan and there is no trading up unless your character is flawed. You just don't turn your back on your teams just because they suck. How did y'all get out of being Bengals fans? You aren't playing by the rules....at least you picked ****** teams like Vikings, redskins, jets, etc.
Born and raised in Louisville. Tampa bay buc fan since birth. Don't know how it happened, but I'm glad it did. Bengal fans are annoying around here because a lot of them don't even watch football.I was thinking the same way. A lot more positions could've been filled besides WR. Still not a fan of the pick, especially with all the DBs that were still out there
I'm pretty happy about it. Just wish they would quit under performing on offense. They leave a lot of points on the field. How do you feel about Steelers 2nd round pick now? Not trying to pick on you as many didn't like it at the time. Just pointing out that JuJu may have been the best WR in the draft and went late in the 2nd round. The Steelers offense would be hurting without him as Bryant hasn't been his old self since the suspension. Also TJ Watt may end up being defensive rookie of the year.

Gave up on Sammie Coates, JuJu looks good. At the time I said they needed to fill the DBs and they went out and signed joe Hayden. I also like marshon lattimore or tredavis white to win DROY but TJ is certainly in the running. How do you feel about Steelers 2nd round pick now?
