Nate Clouse presented. Much information on the recruits that you wouldn't otherwise hear anywhere else. Clouse said he fully expects Tanner Lee to be the starting QB next season and Lee could very well be "one and done" and off to the NFL for 2018. That stud DB recruit (Blades) is very good and will see playing time next year. Just a few nuggets to chew on. Good time last night. I left at 10 o'clock and the place still had a couple dozen people hanging out rappin' with Nate.

Thanks for input, was planning on going till my buddy happened to get some Wisconsin basketball tickets couldn't pass that up...

If Lee leaves after his first year we just might have one hellva of an offense next season...
Hoping he stays for 2 years with that difficult conference schedule in 2018.

I posted this originally in early November. As usual the wise asses got after me.

Lee can make all the throws the staff require him to make. He's good in the screen game and he's got a nice deep ball too. As they say, he can really spin it! His wheels are good enough that he can keep defenses honest. He can scramble fairly well when he needs to.

I think we need to keep the zone read game with him just to make the opposing defenses having to prepare for it. The NFL scouts like him a lot. We'll just have to wait and see how things go under the lights so to speak but he has a chance to be a 1st rounder. Gotta do it on the field but that 1st round projection is not off base.

He does have eyes in the back of head. He has a sense of when to step up into the pocket to deliver throws. He can move the pocket adequately. I'm really high on the guy. We are very fortunate to have him. I have heard he may be a one and done guy. I don't know about that though. We need him to stay the 2 years.

It's a good thing he has a really quick release because with bad protection he may be running for his life.

A few things from last night that popped out at me.
*Clouse made a joke that this was the first time NFL coaches have been in the building to see the scout team!
*He was pressed by the audience and said he'll be surprised if Lee does not start. Riley and Langs want arm talent first and foremost. If I guy can run, that even better, but arm talent first. We have three guys that can really sling it.
*A few of the receivers are disappointed they didn't get a year to play with Lee.
*Stanley Morgan is one of the real leaders in the locker room.

*Clouse suggested TA not being a captain was very telling. Didn't go into a lot of detail, but even last year, there were guys that were still holdovers to the past and not fully on board. Lockeroom problems?
*Riley had to be very calculated in his depth chart with evidence from film to make his points. Apparently in the past it was more of a seniority thing than who rightly deserved to be at the top of each position group.
*Clouse suggested we could see 7, maybe 8 lineman play. It was hard to keep shirts on some guys, but it will pay off.
*Guys to watch for the future that will be special include Jaimes, Blades, Sichterman, Lindsey, and Roberts to name a few. Miles kid is gonna be special, another Janovich type, smart, tough, high football IQ.

MAG, can the Ghost work on its menu? Atrocious. Maybe cater some stuff in.

The build up for next season is already sounding over the top, and it still has another 6+ months to fester...:Cool::eek::cool::D

Definitely hyperbole season. At this rate...Bill Belichick will move up in the first round of the draft to select Tanner Lee to be the starter in New England in 2018 and Lee will make everyone forget about the G.O.A.T...Tom Brady

Also, I bet the winter conditioning workouts are the hardest ever implemented at Nebraska and there will be a surprise walk-on that should definitely start the season over all of the scholarship players at his position based on some scrimmages during Spring Practice.

I can't wait. Winking

You forgot the players emerging from winter conditioning will be faster and stronger than ever before. We probably won't hear that after a year to get used to the new system, players will be able to "just play" instead of think. The good news is a year from now during the spring players can say that about the 3-4 defense.

Maybe the football players can finally pass the volleyball team on the Performance Index created by Boyd Epley as the best athletes at the university. People can dream...right? Winking

Doubt it. Most things are done on the cheap down there. Most of the money brought in is used to pay the guess speaker. I think the food is actually okay. It's all home made. Especially the chilly. Anyone who works the events are volunteers. Good folk.

I don't know what the purpose of the negative comments are. At this point they serve no good except to keep things stirred up. That time is over, time to start over with a new year and new players.

BTW, I agree with the comments about some of this being over the top hyperbole. Just name Lee all B1G and all American and get his signing bonus.

What? Is this true? Embarrassing if so.
Yeah there were more than a couple of guys that did that for at least a year after he was canned. Gerry was another I think. I read that some of them had the note "we miss you Bo" on the picture. Weird stuff.

Wow. Embarrassing. Can't wait for this season now that certain Bo lovers are gone.

Not here to call you a lier, but you know this how?And where did you read this stuff again ?
I honestly can't remember where I read it or if I heard it on the radio from one of the local sports guys now that you ask. I remember at the time thinking wow that's weird but when I read/heard it I didn't question the source. Sorry I can't give a better answer on that. It might have been Matt Davison in an interview discussing the problems Riley had to deal with in the transition during last fall's camp. It's been quite a while ago.

Hmmm if the NFL scouts like him a lot then they hate your plan for zone read plays. :)

If this guy is THAT good you don't risk running him. Do you run Tom Brady just to make the D prepare for something?

I like how this article states "Lee impressed all in attendance". Sounds like reference to Robert E Lee instead of Tanner Lee. lol

Sounds like the worst is behind us. 7 or 8 lineman ready to play, a QB with a pro scout following, toxic gone. Does that mean we break out of the 4 or more losses mode?
I believe so; but the bigger reason has to be the D. This qb could be major upgrade on short passes and hitting the open man ( any of the three )... But the turn around on the D; could seem like an all-out Blackshirt invasion. The new coaches are flat out good and imo exceptional - and the recruiter may be as good or better as a coach. Statistically in many D categories, we could go from basically the worst, to near the first - would be staggering. GBR

We can run 4 or 5 zone reads per game and it doesn't necessarily mean he will be running the ball every time.
