I'm not a big Phil fan, but he is the sole reason we were in this game tonight. His socks are ridiculous.</p>

You can say that about several games this year.

i have been saying i think he is the most valuable asset on this team, sans jarvis..night in and night out he brings a **** load of toughness and effort, when many times everyone else on the team is simultaneously menstruating..he has a nice stat sheet out of sheer effort and desire, despite always guarding an opposing player who outweighs him and is taller..big ups to phil..

I think he is the MVP of this team. Having to matchup against guys much taller and bigger than him every night and still getting double doubles. He hits clutch shots all the time and he rebounds like crazy. I think without him we may have 2 or 3 more losses this season. Hes very underrated in ny opinion.

I would totally deserve it. Last year, I often questioned why he was even allowed in the Hump. This year, we're maybe sitting at .500 without him.

At the start of the season I recall having a sps message board debate with several on the topic of Phil Turner. Went so far as to compare Phil's 3 pt %'s and FT numbers which have really played out and surpassed Randy's numbers this season...which was the comparison I think?

You seem to know a lot about basketball, could Turner's game translate well at the 2? Maybe he dribbles off his foot or whatever, but Randy's (I know Jamont, and you sir are no Jamont) WEAK drives to the basket make me want to cry. Could Turner do that much worse of a job on Defense than Randy?

The other question is if Turner played 2, could we get more offense out of Johnson/Augustus/Osby at the 4 than Randy at the 2? I think we could. However Randy can shoot 5 bricks in a row, etc....and Stans doesn't blink, but the first bad shot taken by either Osby or Augustus they are back on the bench. That kills me. If anything, over the past three seasons Randy has proven without a doubt that he is not a solid scoring option. At least the others show a little potential?

Glad to see you and others giving Phil props. He plays really hard and deserves the credit.

Right now, it's basically Jarvis Claus and his elves. We have a center and four guards. Bost is the point and the other three just play. I think that suits Turner. He has some talent, but honestly, he's doing it more on hustle and determination than skill. His shot has improved greatly, which leads me to believe he's worked hard in the off season as well.

Basically, last year's team was very set with positions. Jamont at 1, Ben at 2, Randy at the 3, and Charles and Jarvis in the post. So really, Turner was stuck in a slow down offense at the two or three when Ben or Barry came out. He just didn't seem comfortable standing around looking for a passing lane down low. The style of play that Stans has put out there this year has really benefited Turner in that once Bost gets the offense moving, he and the other two guards can really roam around and basically just hustle and play. In other words, just putting him on the floor and letting him go is how you get the best out of a guy like him. He's sort of like Slater without the spin-a-roonie.

oh yeah, that is a Full House reference that makes no sense whatsoever. But how often do you get to make a Full House reference on a sports message board? Answer: Never...until now.

I don't think I would've admitted watching the show enough to ever make a reference. DS stock down one and a half points.
