Nice to see Mitch Sherman pissing off...

People are lacking the reading comprehension to understand that he was giving KJJ a huge compliment.

It's not saying "he might not catch a pass." It's saying, "Zoom in on this and realize how valuable he is if you were to only look at one thing. Now zoom back out and add in that he can ball, too. That's what makes him so special."

Yes, this. People need to quit looking for reasons to be offended.

The other day Sam Bradford got people upset for using the cliché "that's above my pay grade". Bradford makes a lot of money, and people didn't understand what that phrase means. This isn't a PC problem as much as it is a comprehension/basic education problem.

I will add this: we ALL can over analyze what is written or said about people and things we care about. Look at us when anyone says anything about the Huskers...
KJS saw a tweet about his son and the phrase "never catch a pass" and got a little bent about it. He read it a certain way because of his personal investment in the subject. The reaction makes sense to me, regardless of what Mitch was trying to say.

Sherman is normally a pretty fair reporter. Honestly I'm sure he's never seen KJJ play and maybe never saw KJS play in person. I believe the point he was making was a positive one but I can certainly see how it was taken wrongly. KJJ is most definitely having a positive effect on our recruiting regardless of what he eventually does on the field and Sherman was recognizing that. Sherman has NO idea of how successful KJJ will be and I really don't think he meant to imply that KJJ wouldn't be successful. Unfortunately that's how KJS seems to have taken it. Personally I think KJJ's going to be very very good but he still has to go out there and do it.

The whole thing is not a big deal in my book. I had 5 minutes to make a post, maybe I should have made my business call 5 minutes early.

Kleitusbpn - I don't have a beef with you. If you throw a rock at someone, sometimes they'll pick that rock up and throw it right back at ya.

Mitch Sherman - If you're gonna compliment somebody, choose your words appropriately. It is "likely" that Sherman was making a compliment (see I can poke fun at myself).

KJSr - The guy is an all-pro football player with a high-school age son that may have big aspirations. I wonder what fathers out there would react to defend their son if media people were making public comments about their kid.

Michigan Coach (don't remember his name) - We can thank this guy for telling Daishon Neal that he could never get into Michigan without a football scholarship.

No biggie man I don't take things like this too seriously. I tend to write like ee cummings minus the skill myself so it is difficult lol.

In the end kjs is being a dad and that's a good thing. Sherman will clarify and everyone will move on.

Everyone on our side is touchy because we have some good momentum and it has been so long we are scared of losing it.

I don't think that will matter...

It's actually quite simple. The media loves to include celebrity's on anything whenever they can. KJS is a big-time celebrity. Celebrity's have an image and they will protect it if they feel the need to-and this concept also extends to their family.

KJS bitchslapped Huskers fans right away when KJJ was first getting introduced to NU. He didn't like people spouting on stuff they don't know (& it's the same deal here).

Like it or not KJJ lives under different rules than most (in all fairness, he really didn't have a choice). This is different than what we are accustom to here in Nebraska. Personally I think it is ultimately a HUGE positive for NU football but again, it is different than the norm.

This is exactly what I was afraid of. You bring in a kid like that, and the potential for an enormous amount of drama exists from day 1, and the kid hasn't even signed his LOI yet.

I know a lot of you guys were excited about his commit and all that, but to me, it was nothing more than potential headache after headache.

To make matters worse, you aren't dealing with just one character, but now two of them (his father). Mark my words, this is not the kind of attention we need here. The door swings both ways attention and publicity wise, and I'd be happy if he quietly just went somewhere else.
People who think like this have no business in a leadership position. So, Reilly is a leader and he does not fear bringing talent to Lincoln and managing that talent and all the "fun" that comes with it.

I am sorry you feel this way. Leadership is a difficult subject sometimes. It's hard to pin the tail on what it is for everyone. Coach Riley is a people person. He likely does have the temperament to deal with big egos and characters, but is it good for the team and program overall? (this was the point I was trying to make)

As to your leadership dilemma, your opinion is just as valid as the next person's so I'd like to ask you a question. Would you be willing to strap on your rifle and pick Mike when you go into battle with your life on the line? This is actually a fairly decent leadership test. No, it is not perfect, but it should help pin the tail.

Now, does Mike need to be that kind of guy? Probably not. He has strong position coaches. To me, that matters more. KW is a leader. Bray is also a leader. When you apply the rifle going into battle test, those guys easily pass. It is easy to see in recruiting results for those positions as well.

So, back to your comments... while I am personally disappointed that you feel that way about me, I'd hope you can objectively see the argument that I'm making and that it is of some value to you going forward.

Was Sherman really trying to say something good? Let's see:

"Ringleader" - per Webster, "a leader of a ring of individuals engaged especially in improper or unlawful activities".

Is that a compliment? NO, strike one.

"Even if he never catches a pass" - an insinuation that KJJr isn't good enough to play.

Is that a compliment? NO, strike two.

"he'll likely still have made a significant impact" - the use of the word "likely" introduces doubt as to whether there will be contribution.

Is that a compliment? NO, strike three.

Sherman is supposed to be a writer, he should understand the English language. Maybe he's just collecting a paycheck from espn.

Oh jesus christ. STOP TRYING TO BE OFFENDED. It was at worst a harmless comment and at best a compliment.

Wait, seriously? People got offended by that? Sometimes I hate the Internet.

I wasn't offended. Now, I probably have wasted 15 minutes of my life looking at a thread that I really don't even care about. Tweeting, Mitch Sherman, KJSr, I don't care. Well, I posted on here right? That was my mistake and now I've wasted 3 more minutes of my life typing this response.

You put an awful lot of thought into dissecting something you don't care about. And it took you three minutes to type the response?

That pretty much hits the nail on the head. (BTW, since you seem so interested in my time, this response, w/ parantheses is about 1 minute).
