Polk would have stopped the runner rounding 3rd. Hogue getting thrown out at 3rd was a error on his part, not Cohens. He should have let the ball get past the pitcher before advancing.

We have no hitting, and when we are lucky to get on base we just 17 it up with terrible base running, so Arky has to feel good right now even with a 2 run lead.

only to be followed with a 17'n double play thanks to connor powers and then a strike out with a runner on third.

runners on 2 and 3 with 1 out. Who cares if the runner you walk scores....with this team, if the guys on 2nd and 3rd both score, its over.

because it's really not that big of a deal. Our pitching is just terrible. It's all Polk's fault.

no one talks about when we do something aggressive and it works in our favor. For example, the squeeze play against Memphis where we basically stole a run and it really turned the momentum in our favor.

The talent arguement is valid- but I also think that another struggle that Cohen is facing is an attitude problem with this group. Not that their attitude is bad or anything- but going from a passive station to station approach to a much more aggressive approach seems hard for these players to adjust to. The players can talk a good game about being aggressive to people like Gene and all that, but it's another thing to totally sell out and believe it.

I mean, for goodness sakes, Cohen's had his players slide in the dirt before a game this year so that they could get used to being dirty.

Some of the crap we've done on the base paths so far this season have been mind-boggling and have run us out of bunches of extra potential runs. Yes, you're right, during the Memphis game, our aggressiveness did get us a run or two, and I will give credit where credit is due. BUT, there's been WAY more times so far this season our 'aggressive play' has turned a double into an out at 3rd or a single turned into an out at 2nd or got us in a run-down and then thrown out.

Stealing bases, hitting & running, bunting runners over is playing small ball. Being aggressive. I love how Cohen is doing some of this with our team. However, the little league bullsh!t we've been doing all season while we're on the basepaths or when we actually do get a hit is completely idiotic. There is a big difference. The stupidity so far has out-weighed the aggressiveness. I guess I just don't get it.

I can assure you this, when the talent gets in here and Cohen gets his players on the field, these things will improve. This year is sort of an ethnic cleansing of our program to see who can cut it and who cannot.

Am I am fully on board with Cohen, for the record, but I don't know if it's just the Mississippi State fan in me or if I'm just becoming overly cynical with every game that I see the crap we do. I just never in my wildest dreams would have thought MS baseball would get as ****** as we currently are. It is very depressing.

He was thrown out both times with the SS waiting on him to get to 2nd. I think Cohen is going to the extreme to get our team to be aggressive.
