I think we should talk him into the move. He looks slow as a DT, but wouldn't he be fairly athletic at that size as an OT.

He is an out of shape true freshmen. Way to early to pull the plug even if your evaluation is correct.

Spoken from a true fan who doesn't know much about football.

Anybody who has ever played in the trenches will tell you it aint about how big or fat you are (looking at you, James Carmon), it's all about leverage and footwork. As a matter of fact, being big can put you at a disadvantage. James is overweight, slow with his feet, and would get burned by any DE in this league.

For more on size, just ask JC Brignone, who is without a doubt the best center we've had this decade who is every bit of 6'1".

I didn't think it because he was big and fat. Quite the opposite.

I think his footwork is pretty good and he is huge. 6'4 330 or whatever, and with good footwork(which I think he has) makes him a good tackle. Taht is what he looks like to me.

I don't think it's idiotic. We will see in time.

And if we are looking for 6'1 linemen as you note below, we are in trouble.

I'll eat crow on this one...

I did not realize they had talked about moving him to RT... I thought it was just because he was a big guy and the idea was that maybe he could block some Bama D-linemen. I didn't do my hw before I said something.

Wasn't he a late qualifier? He basically had zero conditioning coming into the season.

Give him one spring and summer with Dan and I guarantee he starts next year next to Evans.

I'd love to see us have a hybrid 4-3/3-4 defense like the Patriots' with him at NT. Our depth at LB should make that possible next year. Autry at OLB. Blitz like crazy!
