There’s some legit smoke about Norvell
being in the mix

Would be a massive perception hit and certainly set the program back

Not exactly the news I wanted to hear on a Thursday morning

Where is GS on that list?
Was In secret talks with Bama's AD a few days ago and might be the reason for Nick's quick exit.
Also rumored to be the reason Belichick is leaving New England
and Carroll is an ex Seahawk
edit: according to unreliable sources based on misinformation
it's just been revealed the State of Tennessee told the Titan owner to right a wrong
by firing their HC and offer Greg that job or take their business elsewhere

He is the most likely out of all the names imo because I could see the feeling be somewhat mutual.

Kiffin for sure and Dabo possibly would leave but not sure the feelings are mutual in either case.

Lanning is staying in Oregon as expected.

Dan Lanning staying in Oregon, which is kind of expected given the stuff out there.

I was right again! Because I equivocated. It was a ploy for more $$$. @angmo , don't try this at your job. I know in my line of work, if I asked for more money, I would be told to piss off. It's great to be a college football coach. Best gig in the land.

Norvell to Bama, and Jimbo needs a job, so he could return to finish the job he started at FSU.

Supposedly, there’s a lot of bad blood between Kiffin and Alabama from when he worked there and would constantly needle Saban

Dabo would be crazy to leave
As would Norvell

Dabo's star has dulled a bit and I feel he won't be the first choice.
Kiffen might not be supported by the fanbase
Sarkisian has a plum job at Texas and building a great program
He might not want to replace a legend and have every move compared to Saban
DeBoer would be a great choice, but lack of SEC ties might make Alabama hold off
making him their main goal when looking at their top candidate to replace Saban

My longshot choice is Georgia's DC Glenn Schumann if Bama don't poach Norvell from FSU.

I could see something like that because imo chances were near 0 for some mentioned and all below 50/50 if you look at the current situations of the candidates mentioned that Alabama might want.

If you got a nice cushy job and fiefdom why leave to follow Saban. Somebody like a Schumann, sure why not. That why I asked wonder where they could turn if the candidates they like say no thanks.

Also Saban rebuffed any talk about health issues with himself and his wife.

He’s had a couple interviews with ESPN personalities, wonder if he’s angling for a spot there.

I think he and UM would make a great pair on Fox Big Noon. Hard combo to beat.

Joel Klatt seems to think DeBoer is looking at the job. If he had coached somewhere in the SEC I could see it but since he hasn’t I’d be somewhat surprised. He’s gutsy enough to do it too but without familiarity? If he does go and I’m Washington I’d just promote Ryan Grubb.

Like I said local tv and radio reports often aren’t reliable.

A few other names mentioned now. Rees their OC (would be surprising imo), Locksley from Maryland and Drinkwitz from Mizzou (he just signed an extension bumping salary to 9M+ so how is he suppose to get out of that unless there isn’t much of a buyout on his end)

The fact that these names are coming out imo means they have gotten rebuffed by others higher up the list.

I thought about Tommy Rees , but felt since Bama didn't have one of the top offenses in 2023 he'd not get a look
Kevin Steele their DC was another thought. But his age would be a drawback and Alabama not being in the top ten NCAA total D wouldn't help his cause

From everything I have read, speculation , Alabama is favoring going after DeBoer.
Making my speculating the lack of SEC ties wrong when it comes to offering DeBoer the job.
Huskie fans better hope Washington offers him a pile of money and years to stay
or they like FSU's coach better and he wants the job

Washington should just promote Grubb then or hire Pete Carroll lol.

That removes Sarkisian as was probably expected. Norvell put out a usual tweet about a transfer signing which seems like a positive for FSU.

DeBoer still quiet though.
