I remember spraining my ankle during a game and it swelled to softball size. I was sent to the hospital where the orderly stuck a 3" needle in my ankle. I was on crutches for two weeks and then everything was good to go. The only bad thing was, I was never the same afterward. I hope Nick recovers better than I did.

He'll also have some of the best in the business helping him recover every single day. We're not talking about getting medical attention from your local urgent care center.

Plus we don't even know the extent of his injury.

The pain and swelling immediately after spraining an ankle isn't a good indicator of how bad it is. I've had all kinds of ankle sprains (weak ankles I guess) and I've turned one and felt fine and kept playing then been hobbled for weeks, and other times I've hurt like hell that night and been fine in a few days. One of my longest recoveries came from one that didn't really have any swelling.

Problem is once it’s hurt, much easier to do the same again. I used to tape the heck out of mine after the 2nd or 3rd time of hurting it originally. It helped, but still had issues from time to time.

People are freaking out over nothing at this point . I think if it was a big deal we would know by now. Doesn't mean he might miss MSU but he will be fine long term IMO .

It's not like this is a PJ Washington type situation I'm sure we will be more than ok without Richards until he recovers fully. Hes not Gonna make us or break us in any capacity. Hopefully it wont be long though we can use him as an extra big body against top.teams.

Disagree. A healthy Nick Richards will be needed if a championship is your goal for this year. His shot blocking and length will be needed on the interior. And I think this is the year he turns it around. Not quite the effect of losing PJ last year, but would be a big loss if injury lingers.

So if Richards would average a double double, like 10-10, he wouldn't help us in any capacity?

I scoured everywhere looking for info on his injury. Has there been any updates that I might have missed?
No and I suspect it is because just like when Herro twisted his ankle last year it ain't a big deal. Again doesn't mean he might not miss MSU but its not big deal in terms of our season . Hagans said he seemed fine in the lockerroom and I suspect that is the case. He also has the best trainers / doctors in the world working with him.

probably everyone here who has played ball has sprained their ankle. it just takes a little while for the ligaments to get back into place. if it’s sore from playing you just put on an ankle brace right?

Yeah ups is wrong IF Richards was truly out for a long time ( more then 6 weeks ) it would be a huge loss but that ain't the case . But it is incorrect to say if Richards did have a bad injury like an ACL or foot injury we would be fine . We would be a much less dangerous team for sure. The great thing is after MSU we have like 4-5 weeks where we play no one . Its not until dec 18th we play a worthy team again. Worst case we don't have him for MSU and he is back soon after .

If you were never the same after a sprained ankle, you just a wimp.

Sissy, I once caught my scrotum in a wood chipper and then bowled a 300 game.

Infinite difference between a high ankle sprain and a low ankle sprain.

Low ankle sprain you just walk it off and maybe have a bruise and coach holds you out only because you’re the only damn true center he’s been able to shake a stick at in ages.

Why would you let a random orderly arbitrarily stick a 3” needle into your ankle? And for what purpose?
Was this in Tijuana?

Disagree completely. Who you going to put in for him? You got to have big bodies to bang against big bodies. Nick is a very important player for our team this year. If he's not playing against Michigan State it will hurt big time.

Agree completely. My 2 cents, use it as much as you can as fast as you can, without making it worse. And he will have better treatment for it than any of us!

I once injured my *****.

hope Richards can recover soon.
I just knew it. Congratulations, Col. you have finally found the courage to come out of the closet. So now that you've come out with the truth I have a few questions. Do you like boys, girls or both? Are you more she male or he male? Do you own more panties or men's underwear?

Between this and “Kansas and Duke play tomorrow”, OP was really on one yesterday.

I think it’d be more unusual to find a basketball player that hasn’t sprained his ankle at some point in time. I think he’ll be fine. I’d be shocked if he were out long at all.

UK injury logic. Prepare for him not to be back this year.
