Oh, so you didnt read the link you asked for?

Not surprised.

No i wanted to hear what you thought they were... ..

Because under weaknesses on the site it talked about his 3pt shooting (which can be improved) and work with his off hand... and says he doesnt have great lateral quickness or balance to defend on the perimeter..... which is funny because I saw him defend just fine today.

I never said that. Let me repeat myself for the 3rd time - Its made super clear he's not one when you add up his flaws/

You know whats hilarious, DX makes no mention of him playing on the wings or put SF as his position because he's so far away from that its not even on their minds. Only people who think he can are UK fans bc Cal said so.
You know DraftExpress bases their evaluations on what they can do in the NBA, not college, right?

And that evaluation was based on the summer, lots of stuff could have improved by then.

As much as I would love to see Gabriel play the 3, I don't think he'll flourish there. I would rather see him blocking shots, taking charges, and grabbing rebounds.
24% from 3pt line in AAU games won't cut it on the perimeter.
We will play Briscoe fox and monk on perimeter. Have Bam and Wenyen play close to the basket. Hope he gains weight and won't get rooted out of the paint...

which guys have said he's not a wing player? link please or it didnt happen

2016 Nike Hoop Summit: USA Junior National Select Team Measurements
April 8, 2016
Height (w/ shoes): 6-9.25
Weight: 197
Wingspan: 7'1
Standing Reach: 9'1

Measuring out identically to his listed numbers in our first set of official data points he's appeared on, Gabriel has solid size for a power forward, particularly at the college level, where his measurables would compare favorably to players like Amile Jefferson and Brice Johnson. Lacking tremendous length and bulk relative to players at his position in the NBA, it will be interesting to see how Gabriel's body responds to Kentucky's strength and conditioning program, which has worked wonders for a number of the elite prospects they've brought in over the last few seasons.

Watched the first half and was blown away by Fox. Length, quickness, speed, defensive intensity all through the roof. He's going to be the best PG in the country by the time March rolls around.
Think he'll end up being Cal's best freshman PG since Wall.

Also- I believe it was Givony but someone posted a video of Fox taking jumpers at the practice yesterday and the stroke was a lot more fluid/easy than I expected... not saying he'll shoot for a high % or be a great 3-pt shooter by any means, but he's not Briscoe 2.0. Teams will have to defend him out there, and if they don't he can stick it.

5star goes along with whatever draft express says and acts like he's doing all the scouting himself.

If the Internet scouting report changes, 5star will act like he's had some kind of revelation and start ticking off all the new skills he's noticed...while scouring the Internet.

The bottom line is that UK will feature four top 20 picks next season, plus Briscoe (probably), SKJ, Willis, and three or four other high level four star players.

UK will be in the title discussion all season, and certainly has the talent to shut down opponents defensively. Duke, meanwhile, will wield a great offensive attack, but will struggle defensively (again) and will have to try to figure out how to work with 5 or 6 shoot-first five star guards/wings.

I'd rather have an elite defensive team with multiple lottery-level talents and no question marks surrounding whether their best recruit will fully recover after two ACL injuries.

This has got to be one of the worst Nike Summit games I've ever seen outside of Ferguson lighting it up. Just awful ball-handling, passing and just overall play, especially by the world team.

No, because i know how Cal will work this.

He'll start off the season experimenting Wenyen at SF. Once that fails & he realizes how that idea was foolish, he'll pull the cord & stick at PF full-time where he belonged.

Like he did for Trey Lyles?

Bottom line is that you're projecting. You're obsessed with spacing and you're simply hoping Cal goes small.

I'm sure he is way better than he has shown in these two all-star games, but I am just not seeing the insane hype Tatum has gotten. He will no doubt put up big numbers for Duke, but at what expense? His handles look average at best, and his passing is non-existent.

One of the main reasons Gabriel chose UK was Cal was the only coach that said he could play the wing.. Either Cal tells his recruits the truth,, or lies to get them here.. One or the other.. I'm choosing the first.. Sure he'll play some 4 but as of now,, he'll see more 3 than 4..

They said before the halftime that Duke is returning 62 pts, then you add Giles, Tatum, Jackson, and a returning Jefferson, and I really don't get why Bolden would go there. I think we return something like 30 pt or so.

Bam is the prominent PF, that much is fact...then along with WG there's SCJ, plus you have Hump, Wynard and Lee if he returns.
Which of that group is going to play the stretch 3 over Gabriel?

If Briscoe comes back you have the 3 as an interchangeable position IMO based on matchup.

Go big:
Fox
Monk
Gabriel
Adebayo
Lee

Go small:
Fox
Monk
Briscoe
Gabriel
Adebayo

So, what were the stats for the UK guys??

If that team wasn't so loaded, the plug would've been pulled. Hell, he wouldnt haved played SF if we werent so stacked.

Spacing is vital. I bring it up all the time b/c its scary how little Cal + the fanbase values it. The yr he realizes this is likely the one he wins his 2nd ring. Until then...

I expect to see a lineup with Fox, Monk, Gabriel, Willis, and Bam on the floor together.

Who guards the three in that lineup?

I could see Gabriel playing a lot of 4 with Fox, Monk, and Briscoe beside him IF either Briscoe or Gabriel shows themselves capable from the three point line.

If we nab Bolden, I can also see Bolden, Bam, Gabriel on the floor together. Again, who guards the three?

Knowing what we know about next year's roster, and knowing what Cal is still trying to do with the roster, it would be foolish to not expect Gabriel at the three a good bit.

True, and who exactly are the complimentary/role players going to be for Duke? Allen thinks shoot-first. Thornton thinks shoot-first. Jackson thinks shoot-first. Tatum thinks shoot-first. Taking all of that into consideration, Duke will still have the Giles element and try to keep him well fed on the low block.

Could get interesting for guys like Kennard and Jones; particularly Jones, who has shown incredible loyalty to the Duke program and was a starter for their national title team. Now, are we to suspect K will play Jackson, Tatum, Allen, and Kennard over Jones?

I'm guessing there is some serious discontent before it's all said and done. K recruited most of these guys based on the assumption that they'd all see minutes this year. A guy like Tatum playing with a guy like Allen is the kind of thing that looks great on paper, but also creates a massive headache for a coach trying to figure out a way to win 6 straight games in March/April.

Regarding Ferguson:

I met the guy who runs API (Prime Prep 2) at a tournament in Dallas. He wasn't a fan of my Kentucky gear. He was also in love with any attention he could get from players/coaches/etc.

Duke will have a great offense. They always do. And K has never had an issue with turmoil during the season that I can recall.

I still think if you're looking for a chink in the armor in that team on paper it's their defense.

They were really bad this year and they lost arguably their best defender in Plumlee. And freshman almost always struggle with defense.(this is true for us too btw and where Briscoe would make a huge difference again).

Well, I completely missed this. Ugh. Any replays?
You didn't miss anything. Fox had like 8, all on fast breaks layups and hit one floater. He passed the ball well, and played great D. Jumper is broke, though. He didn't make one outside shot in the two all star games. Gabriel had 2 on a dunk. Don't waste your time watching a replay.

Try asking the guys on the HOB that know. You wonder why Cal isnt going for the other guys at his school.....? Preston, Duval, Ferguson and Cal isnt recruiting a single one. Do the math
And Preston openly lobbied for Ky to recruit him . Said UK was his mothers favorite team .

For those that were losing it over Frank Jackson's shooting in the McDonald's game, I think he was 0-5 from 3 in this one. I nodded off a few times, so that may be off a little bit.

Also, I think Monk, Tatum, Josh Jackson and Ferguson sat out the entire 4th quarter. Seemed like that Pritchard played almost the entire 2nd half.

Because they lose Plumlee. He walks in and starts. Why wouldn't he go there?
