90% of the athletes are only getting merchandise or such for their NIL endorsements. I.e. protein shakes/bars, coupons for food, apparel, etc.
I don't think we need to worry about too many high school kids outside of the 4 and 5 stars getting deals.

I live near a lake community where young jet skiers, wake boarders, etc. have been receiving endorsement deals for the last 20 years.
I know plenty of high school kids who pay for their own and own their own.. Also, a lot of kids can’t work doing the season so it’ll put a little money in their pockets. Bojangles, Hardee’s, local mom and pop shops. I think it cool idea.
So if a kid works at Taco Bell and has money from that part time job, would that cause he/she to get into trouble?
My concern is having the ability to afford too many temptations. And you do make a good point about working at a place and having some change. From my own experience growing up the ones with jingle were much more likely to be getting into trouble. I just hate to see kids go down the wrong path.
I found the opposite. When I was working and had money I didn't have time or energy to go looking for trouble. When I wasn't working I got bored and found trouble to get into. Time is a better resource for getting into trouble than cash.
I think there's a difference between working at McDonald's or Lowe's for jingle in the pockets, and football players getting endorsements. Tennis, golf, jet skiing, etc. are COMPLETELY different activities than football, basketball, and baseball. The mentality of the ball players is different than that of a tennis player, a golf player, and a jet skier.
I understand where you’re coming from but I doubt Bojangles, for example, would be paying a high school kid that much money to advertise. Maybe $500 -$700 until the sign or commercial is taken down. Imagine how many Salem fans would eat at Bojangles if Deuce Logan was on a commercial or Appo fans would go to Hardee’s if they had a Tre Lawling cutout holding a thick burger and chicken biscuit in each hand. It would actually benefit the kid and the community more than anything.
