This is another Ole Miss/Arkansas game. Great 1st half with some home field adrenaline, but the 2nd half will be a different story.

But it was a lot closer than the score reflects. Personally, I wouldn't want hud to do too well this year cause the absolute last thing we want is him to be a bear. I like him right where he is so that at the end of next season he's still available to us. Just noticed where he's in 5th place behind Nick Saban for liberty mutual coach of the year. Looking at where we are as a program, it wont hurt for it to level off this season so that Huds twenty year run will be at state and not olemiss. But yes, I am dissapointed, probably feel about like you do everytime state wins a basketball game.

If you ignore that "stat" and add strength of schedule, factor in the unusual rise in dewpoint per game in starkville, add tax and squint your eyes, its obvious that we are on the rise.

all of the "Fire Wilson" clowns, too? We're the only team that hasn't been murdered by LSU, so far.

The Memphis game - I thought we looked lethargic on D b/c of the # of yards we gave up.

Then came Auburn. The question marks were raised even more.

Then the LSU game - I just thought LSU did nothing special to try and win the game. They just ran the ball.

Then the LA Tech game - we actually played well enough to win.

Then UGA game - The D scored our only TD and played good.

Then UAB - we gave up 3 points.

Then USC - we played lights out.

We have had only one game where the D didn't play well enough for us to give us a win. Unfortunately, the offense - which is our coach's forte - has been suffering.

I've never been a big fan of the whole "bend but don't break" philosophy to begin with. I didn't like Diaz's at first, but I couldn't argue with the production, but I did like how he wasn't afraid to blitz. Seeing a more conservative bend but don't break with Wilson really drove me up a wall, especially early on. I didn't care how well they played against La Tech. I still looked at it as freakin La Tech. Not until the Georgia game did I actually back off. Putting things into more perspective, it's still rather impressive with what he has been able to do with how thin we've become on the line and line backers. I have no qualms admitting I judged too quickly with him.<div>
</div><div>The offense is perplexing to me. I'm still not sure if it's personnel issues, play calling or a mixture of both yet. I'm more inclined to think it's the latter, but still. Even with it supposedly being our coaches forte... we've never been lights out on offense. What's frustrating is that we'll see glimmers of brilliance here and there and shortly come to realize that we are no where near where we could be. We certainly are a hell of a lot further ahead of where we used to be though.</div>

if you don't count Mullen's fake punt which resulted in a TD that shouldn't have been counted.

We had a good line with Carmon, Jackson, Saulsberry, Smith, and Lawrence. They looked good against Memphis and Auburn- and then Carmon and Smith got hurt. Then the coaches decided to play Blaine "The Matador" Clausell and had to move some people around, and it has taken awhile for us to find the best unit, but I think we finally have since the second half of UAB.

Also, we've played some darn good defenses. We should do better on offense the rest of the year with the exception of Alabama barring injuries.

that it continually gives the ball to your offense in poor field position. Since you use the LA Tech game as an example, I checked to see where we started our drives in that game. We had9 drives that started at our own 20 or behind (including an 82-yard punt return TD where the offense never actually touched the ball). We only started1 drive outside our own 40. Bend but don't break has it's place, but at some point you've got to get the ball for your offense in decent field position.

is when they know where we're weak at, sometimes it seems as if they try not to play towards those strengths as much as they should. When we were still lead by Relf, it seemed like a miracle for them to consider running the option after Auburn, and they weren't too against running him or our running backs up the middle when we knew good and well how weak our line was post Carmon and Smith. I'm not one to play the blame game because it's easy to find fault in every little thing that we see, but some times it's hard not to notice. With that said though, even though I was one of the ones saying we'd probably finish out 8 - 4 or 9 - 3, given the situation... I'm still happy to see where we are at this point given what we've had to go through.

is that we had a hard time getting into a rhythm because we couldn't block. And I think Les lost faith in Relf at some point.

should have started UAB and Georgia at LT.

I would have tried Damien Robinson or Muniz when Carmon was hurt. They may not be the next Jonathan Ogden, but they would not have done any worse.

and I can tell you Hud is well loved and has that town rallying around their team. He did the same thing as Dan Mullen, he challenged the fans to show up and has had
several games with 30,000+ in the stands. They were telling meHudsaid in a press conference that if the tailgaters don't come in the game he would personally go get them at half time and escort them into the stadium. They were eating that up.
