..I find it amusing Mullen thought he could bring Farve in off the bench cold & use the little guy to razzle dazzle a TD. I think Mullen is an intelligent man, but sometimes he makes you scratch your head with some of this goofy **** he pulls against ranked teams.

Little guy has been talking **** all season & Mullen finally puts him in a "put up or shut up" situation.

With that single clown car outbreak, I think the "shut up" aspect of the mission has been accomplished.

That's an odd coincidence because I also find it amusing Mullen thought he could bring Farve in off the bench cold & use the little guy to razzle dazzle a TD. . . . but it's ridiculous to put lil' Brett in to do something risky and potentially stupid.

I liked the razzel - hand off to bumpus and let him throw the ball instead of the dazzel - bumpus pitch to Farve and then throw the ball. Bumpus has a pretty good arm and played some QB @ Tupelo

Tyler Russell, first start, we have been scripting our plays all week, and what do we do? We let Tyler Russell run the f'n option. That was a what the 17 moment for me.

I think Mullen is an intelligent man, but sometimes he makes you scratch
your head with some of this goofy **** he pulls against ranked teams.
couldn't agree more.

We never run a simple trick play (bit of an oxy moron for sure, but...). It's a double reverse, but the 3rd string running back passes. It's a fake punt, but we try a jump pass over the middle. We never run low-risk trick plays, which is actually one of the benefits of running a lot of offensive trick plays.

I hated that play --- especially considering the fact that we were driving, had converted two 3rd downs, and were in scoring position. That play killed our momentum and the drive went downhill from there (missed field goal).

by Favre and whomever pitched the ball back to him fumbling. Not sure who was at fault there, but regardless it caused Favre to have to recover the ball, and that gave the DB a lot of time to figure out that we were going to pass and close in on Bumphis.

We ran the speed option right, Russell drew the defender and pitched to Ballard, who had lots of room up the right side. However, whoever Bumphis was attempting to block on the edge drove straight through him and tied Vick up long enough for help to arrive. Bump gets any kind of block out there and Vick is out the gate.

We were lucky that it wasn't ruled a pick. It's stuff like thatthat really has me questioning Mullen more and more every game. He's got to quittrying these low-percentage ******** trick plays. I can't begin to understand the thinking on that crap. We are driving the ball down the field and Russell gets shaken up.Run the 17ing ball for the next down and bring him back in the game. If that had been ruled an interception, Mullen wouldhave been raked over the coals in the local media for good reason. This is the 17ing SEC. This is not Division II football.

When Farve botched the catch on the handoff/toss he panicked and just threw it up for grabs. He actually threw it much closer to the defender, but Bump made a decent play back to the throw just to keep it from being a pick six. Favre should have just thrown it away after he screwed up the exchange.

Okay, it didn't work, but that's no reason to call Mullen an idiot. His real problem is he doesn't try MORE of these plays.

Russell got the wind knocked out of him on the previous play, so he was out. You can either stick Relf in, or you can run wildcat for one play. Hey, why don't we line up with Bumphis in the wildcat, and try the ol' reverse-throwback-to-the-QB play? Lots of teams have run that play with success over the years. As an added wrinkle, why don't we put a QB at receiver, and receiver at QB to give the play more chance for success? No sarcasms here....it was a good call.

The play might have worked, but mini-Favre dropped the pitch. At that point the play was busted. He should have just run around the right end and picked up as much yardage as he could rather than forcing the throw to Bumphis. So, if you want to blame Mullen for not having Favre coached up properly to know when to give up, that's fine. But don't get upset about calling that play.

We were talking about the reverse pass with Favre. I generally hate out offense, but there was nothing wrong with that particular play call -- it just didn't work.

The receiver dropped the ball....remember? Receiver doesn't drop the ball and it's first and ten on the 15 yard line...even when the Favre fumble before pass.....

Forgot that part??

You are wrong and griff and drunk are right. This is big boy football, not the dann WAC. Mullen LOVES to outthink himself in critical situations. Sometimes you go by the book, and you don't get too look like a coaching prodigy, but you do end up in the end zone. We were matriculating down the field with a good mix of run and pass. There was momentum. There was flow. That play call killed it. Period.

Seriously, it was an incomplete pass on first down. Let's look at the play-by-play for that drive: Oh my, every single set of downs started with an incomplete pass on first down! So why was THAT particular first down incomplete pass a "momentum killer" while we managed to overcome the other two???

Think before you type. If you want to ***** about play calling, then question why we threw on second down and then ran for 8 yards on 3rd down....

While I applaud the creative play calling, this play didn't work. The defense never was fooled, and once Favre dropped the ball it was over. Favre should have just run for as much yardage as he could get.

... is whether or not the play...you know...works. The play was a miserable failure from the start and had to be reviewed to overturn the call on the field of an INT.

That play, in no way, shape or form, "worked".
