What a crazy game last night at the roundabouts. NF held off Randleman 30-27. The Vikings sealed the game with an interception in Tiger territory with a little over a minute to go.

Both Victor Wingate and Joseph Terry had great, great games for the Vikings. Terry's magnificent, long TD run was a backbreaker for Randleman. Wingate hooked up with Terry for the first TD of the game. Wingate did an awesome job finding the holes in the Tiger D. He's also quite the escape artist. He had a Micheal Vick-esque scramble for a 20 yard TD in the fourth (which ended up being called back).

NF jumped out to an 18-7 lead. Randleman cut it to 18-16, NF pushed it back out to 30-16, Randleman came roaring back to cut it 30-27. The biggest killer for the Tigers was the boneheaded fumble in the first quarter that led to a long TD run by Treshaun Harris.

Continued....

I enjoyed watching Harris. He's a good, two-way player for the Vikes.

Honestly, I liked watching NF as a whole. They're not the biggest team out there but they have a lot of heart and good energy. I hope they do well in their conference.

As for the Tigers.........well....they're actually not as down as I thought they'd be. They were missing a few players last night (including Moton, the big RB). #32 Cassidy did an adequate job filling in for him.

Randleman still has some good sized kids and a few playmakers. Chris Gentry is probably their best all-around player. Thomas Dobias had a nice game on defense.

Speaking of defense, I really enjoyed watching Riley Edwards on the line. He was giving NF fits. That's a strong kid.

I had a ball watching this game last night; it was way more entertaining than App's game was. Randleman was the heavy favorite but NF came out fired up the most I've seen from them in years and played inspired ball. Coach Williams is doing amazing things there; he got the kids who stayed focused in and they are believing they can play people now.

If they keep playing like they did last night they may have a shot for 2nd in the Mid State.. Walkeretown's not what we all expected (still good though,) Andrews hasn't proven theirselves vs 2A teams yet (got waxed by the two 3A+ teams they played,) West Stokes needs to find more consistency on O, and the other 2 Rockingham schools are still a mess. They may just got 3rd and maybe 2nd.

Randleman's a mess.. injuries aren't helping them at all they had a Mash unit of hurt kids but the coaching has went down for them and it showed hard. Their goal line D especially in the 3rd was horrendously bad and they refused to adjust to it. They were in their pass defense on the goal line which makes no sense because NF had ran it all those plays before that. They were inviting the TD.. so wacky.

NF had to score 3 times in a row at point due to the refs throwing flags.. what a gutty performance that was. They coulda easily folded but they ran over Randleman 3 times to do it. That amazed me more than anything as I wasn't expecting that.

Amazing how fast things change when a coach leaves...
It's high school football, and everyone goes through cycles. I think it's more about the Jimmy's and johns that graduated and not about the 1 coach that left(who is 0-3 right now). Correct me if I'm wrong but that coach left 2 years ago?

Randleman won the conference in the spring and went undefeated in regular season under the "new staff".

The Tigers have graduated 3 very large talented classes in a row, and are putting a tremendously young team on the field. I believe they started 4 freshman and a ton of sophomores on Thursday.

Their youthfulness will go through some growing pains this season, but the future is very bright.

Yes a friend of mine said an orange/blue coach talked to him recently about how young the team was. Now due to injuries,Covid, talent, they may be starting lots of younger men.
However...
Of the 32 listed on their Maxpreps roster 8 are seniors...
15 are juniors...
4 sophomores...
3 freshman...
And a couple they don't list year??
Anyway not exactly all that young but junior dominated.
I DO agree that talent goes in cycles however. Orange/blue might do fine in conference. Once this "young" team grows up some.

Yep. Jimmies and Joes matter. So do coaches, scheme, program down to the youth leagues and support. Lots of things go into it. And Randleman was below average before he got there and turned the program into a consistent one.

You forgot to mention he was 8-2 last year and is 0-3 against Grimsley, Wake Forest and Wakefield. But nevermind the details....

Not gonna argue that Coach Handy didn't do a great job, i had 2 boys play for him. Built something special and was a great recruiter much like Burton (and Chico)

Blacknight, You made MY point for me, clayton went 8-2 in spring and they are 0-3 against top competition so far. Because he forgot how to coach over over summer?! No, Jimmie and johns.

Kidd, ill have more in depth conversation with you when they put the players hometowns on ER's roster. I know , I know, pot calling the kettle black right. 😆

As far as conference, ER is the team to beat. PG is talented, but they were in the spring to and found a way to under achieve to 4th place. Those 2 should play for the championship on paper.

Actually the point was most teams would be 0-3 against that competiton and that the season should be played out first before judging. I thought you were saying coaching didn't matter. My mistake if so. In high school, it matters quite a bit. There are lots of talented teams that don't win because of a lack of coaching, and teams that are outmanned athletically but win because of scheme. It goes both ways. Some coaches are fools gold because of athletes. Like I said, lots of factors go into a program.

I really couldn't tell you who will come in 2nd. I think everyone has a case thus far.

Reidsville should put a running clock on all these teams though, imo.

I have looked over the ER roster. Rest assured all the kids live within the Ramseur city limits. Now Ramseur is not near the size of Randleman nor do the city limits stretch out near as far. City officials are in discussions to add traffic circles as far as Captain Toms and Franklinville flea market to try and expand the city limits and hopefully help the little town grow else they may be dropping down to 0A next realignment.

The Randleman traffic circles are ridiculous….especially in traffic, at night, after a football game. And that’s even with no beer.

I’m watching about 4 different college football games at the moment, so forgive me if I’ve misread some of the posts…

Did I hear someone say that most teams would be 0-3 against Randleman’s schedule? For real?

Asheboro - not too good
Central Davidson - average at best
North Forsyth - um…. nope. Not even close.

Randleman is way down. Their only hope for the playoffs is to be in a really crappy conference. Which really isn’t the case.

I don’t see them getting past Providence Grove and I think they’ll get murdered by Eastern Randolph. So with it being a split conference, Maybe they can get the 2nd spot in the 2A portion of the conference?

Indeed.. that's going to make that conference way more funner than we expected. In the spring it was going to be Reidsville and Walkertown 1/2 every year but honestly 2 down looks like a rat race now and it's all for the better.

NF looked like a different team on Thursday from the first two weeks. If they can keep that up they can do quite good. Morehead looked awesome on Friday but then again it was NE Guilford; the next two games will show how they are. They play NF in 2 weeks.. that might be a game of the week potential there. Morehead's got some beef on the line so it will be a hard test for NF vs size. They didn't fare well vs Forbush who is huge.

Andrews's didn't play (don't know if them or Tville had covid,) so wait and see there. They are the one ? mark left.

Yeah curious to se who emerges. I’d rank Andreas last, but they could also win some games. Definitely fun to see.
Morehead has some serious momentum right now though.

Would be nice if NF could get it turned around. They have been a punching bag for years and had a lot of weak teams. Seems like they would have athletes there so not sure what the problem is. Sure, it does not help they are in Forsyth Co. and are obligated to play some heavy weights like Reagan and Mt. Tabor in their non-conference schedule. But they should do better against schools around the same size as North.

They are not obligated to play Reagan and Tabor. Those are just their natural rivals and produce large gates for the schools. The North / Tabor game is actually called the Page Cup. I am assuming there is a trophy that go to the winner.

It has to be about the gate and the funds that brings in, if that is the case and NF is not obligated to play Tabor and Reagan. I can't even remember the last time NF beat those teams. Rivalry in terms of location, yes. But not in terms of teams trading wins from year to year. Usually it is blow out city when NF plays those schools.

Around 650 enrollment right now. Not sure it’s going to go back up. Just no growth in that district.
