Both teams are 4-0 in the Metro 4A, and a win here would basically guarantee a playoff berth. Northern has a older more experienced team. Deeper team too. Those two factors give them the edge playing away at Marion Kirby Stadium. That being said, Page is a lot better than they were 7 weeks ago, so much that I think this game will be close and could go down to the wire. Page has the horses to compete with a team like Northern. Hester & Co on offense will need to sustain drives and keep Page's defense fresh. It will be tough but not out of the realm of possibility. I think which ever team doesn't turn the ball over and has the fewest penalties wins this one.

Page ties it up 41-41 and northern scores a TD with 7 secs left in regulation. 48-41 Final.

For Page having 11 total seniors, N Guilford having 17 starting seniors on top of about 15 more players dressed, i'll take a 27 point comeback loss.. The amount of heart and grit that Page showed tonight was incredible. Page went down 27-0 before scoring just before halftime and on the first possession of the 2nd half, making it 27-14. Page rallied all the way back tying it 41-41 with 47 seconds left. But Northern was able to make a couple extra plays to put it away with under 20 seconds left. The go ahead TD went just through the Page DBs fingertips. Hats off to the Nighthawks.. I will say that I still think the Page/Northern "rivalry" has ALWAYS been better than the Northern/Northwest version. Just like Page/Dudley is better than Dudley/Smith...... but i guess that's what happens when you have a tradition like Page's.

Tonight, Page welcomed back 9 former coaches and athletes into the inaugural W.H. Page Sports Hall of Fame. It was something else to see all that greatness from yesteryear on campus at once.

Ray Harrison (basketball, football and track and field)
Haywood Jeffires (basketball, football, track and field)
Paris Kea (basketball)
Marion Kirby (football coach)
Mac Morris (basketball coach)
Zack Osborne (soccer coach)
Maurice Spencer (basketball and football)
Susie Black Wall (tennis and cheerleading)
Tripp Welborne (basketball and football)

My dad was at Page around the same time as Ray Harrison. He said Harrison could've played anything he wanted. Literally anything.

PP44, what's your thoughts on Northern Guilford? They good enough to make a deep run?
Northern has a solid squad. I think they can make a run, yes. but might struggle with teams with more size. If Page didn't sleepwalk for the first 2 quarters I think the outcome is different. Nighthawks play Grimsley last week of the season, so that will tell us a lot. Verdict is still out on what NG will do against a big Charlotte or W-S school.

Blackwell had 2 rushing TDs and 2 receiving TDs last night. Last week at his safety spot he had 5 solo tackles, 2 forced fumbles, a QB sack and a INT returned for a TD. Not to mention his 70% completion percentage and handful of TDs he has as a back up QB passing/rushing. The freshman is developing into quite the weapon.
