Northern Guilford had a great kickoff return but Weddington was able to create the first turnover of the game with a interception deep into their territory.

NG driving now. Looked like a 300 yard reception for NG putting them near the red zone.

Weddington has been able to move the ball so far. But being down 14-0 early in teh first quarter is hard.

CJ Freeman gets into the end zone last time around to make it 14-0.

Mook Reynolds playing well early.. has 55 yards already in the game on three receptions.

Not much of a game so far. Weddington looks out matched at every position right now.

On a side note, Weddington does have better looking cheerleaders.

Weddington now with more penalties in 12 minutes than they had in an entire game vs. Asheville. Guess someone didn't get the memo....

#3 for Weddington is making plays and he's only like 3 feet tall.

Halftime here in Raleigh, as Northern Guilford leads 14-7.

Northern had 150 yards total, compared to 122 for Weddington.

Northern was able to create two turnovers in the game, picking off Willingham twice. CJ Freeman has 50 yards rushing and one touchdown, while Harris is 6-of-12 for 80 yards passing and has 18 yards rushing.

Weddington's Willingham is 5-of-15 for 68 yards and two interceptions, while also being sacked twice.

Major stat to look at: kickoff return yardage. NG is 2 kick returns for 80 yards, giving them great field position in the first half. Weddington was 5-of-10 on third down and controlled the ball for 13:17.

Northern Guilford is really hurting themselves at times with penalties.

It has been a defensive battle in the third quarter, as we head now into the the 4th quarter here in Raleigh.

Congrats Nighthawks way to put the city on your backs and bring ship back to the boro and thanks for caring dudley with you the whole way for those who don't know northern players decided to wear dudley emblems the whole playoffs that class and a fine program

That is kind of funny in some ways. So NG decided to "honor" a Dudley program who obviously and blatantly ignored rules and got caught......as if somehow they were "done wrong" by the NCHSAA??? And that is called classy?

If the kids just felt bad for the players who had to suffer for the coaches' screw up, then ok I can see that. However if it was done in sympathy for the plight of Dudley's program, then I just don't get it. It was there OWN fault. No one forced them to break the rules, nor did anyone punish them without cause.

Every coach in NC knows that Juniors cannot 8 quarter. That has been the rule since the inception of 8 quartering players.

Even if he didn't play 1 second of the game, just dressing out an ineligible player breaks the rule and causes forfeiture. People should KNOW the rules. Not realizing that the speed limit is 55, doesn't mean you won't get a ticket for doing 75.

Our society needs to quit crying foul in support of someone who breaks the rules. If it is ok to break any rule then it is ok to break all rules. "what's wrong with letting a 19 year old play HS ball....he only missed the cutoff date by a month"? or "what's wrong with letting Jimmy play because of academic ineligibility, he only failed that math class by 2 points. They shold let that slide"

Gimme a break.

The football players from NG made this decision independently and that's perfectly fine with us. Even better now that they have won another state title.

You have smoked yourself retarded...... Weddington could have won this game and NOWAY in hell you would stay within 4 scores of Crest, Shelby, or South Point.

The NightHawks did excel at one thing though; playing dirty. #6 and #31 need to be taken to the woodshed. ZERO discipline or class.

We are State Champions and your team has been home. Just because you are from down that way, don't fool yourself into thinking you are elite. I respect Crest and Shelby. They too have the banners and SP only has loud mouths like you. The we would of, could of's..... Take them to the woodshed...lol. That's where all you guys are... SP is always gets taken to the woodshed by someone... LOL, never mention SP in a championship conversation..... that is until you back your big mouths up on the field... you slap...:0)

He's right though...Scotland used to ride on Richmond County's coat tails until recently. South Point is not in Cleveland County. Your legacy has to be more than "We give Crest good competition every year and we're next to Cleveland County, Yeah take that!"
