Northwestern is the real deal this season. Hopefully they are peaking now and revert into a slump by the time we play them again

Of course Iowa is 2-17 from three in the first half. But they had to be 50% against us.
And 1 of them was an off the backboard shot at the buzzer
Northwestern just retired its first uniform number today in its history in any sport - Billy MCKinney. That’s unreal !
This and the Nebraska game are both good examples of how it's often not who you play, but when you play them.
Holding Iowa to 26 in a half is an accomplishment. Kind of like what we did at the RAC to Iowa last season. This season, not so much.
I expect our season ender vs. NW to be another rock fight.

NW is so much better this year because Buie has finally figured out how to play efficiently. In years past, he was a chucking machine clanking shot after shot.
Also amazingly is NW lost Young and Nance to Duke and UNC and they’re a better team without them !

Unfortunately , our "easy" schedule at end of year now ain't so easy. We play some really tough teams.
No conference games are easy, but our end of year schedule is probably the 2nd most preferable in the conference with our two toughest opponents (MI and NW) at home and with road games at PSU and MN. MD has the most preferable schedule remaining with MN and NW at home and road games at OSU and PSU. That’s why their loss today to NEB was big for us. We hold the tiebreaker with MD.

5 years ago when Pike was in his first year and we were struggling, Chris Collins-had turned around the NW program and after they beat us, he told our team that they needed to be a little patient; that Pike was the right guy and that we would also turn things around. Class guy. Good to see them have success, but I still want to beat them in season final.
Guess he was not a Howard Stern fan. Baba Buie would have been a cool name.

If we got this version of Iowa we'd have beaten them. But if we had to face this version of Northwestern we'd have lost.
Iowa has a tough schedule in their final 4...at Wisky is next and the Badgers beat them in OT in Iowa, then Michigan State who beat them already, at Indiana and Nebby who beat them also

If Mag doesn't get hurt, we might well have won the league.
Iowa lights us up from three, but shoots 3-24 against NW tonite.
Also I think about the Ohio State loss. What could have been . Hopefully we win 3 of the next 4, keep us in the hunt for the double bye.
Ok Congratulations team! We now are back in a four way tie for fourth place in the conference. Let’s have a strong finish to the regular season and lock up a 3rd or 4th place finish and a 2 game bye.
I guess Collins locked up B1G coach of the year. His two bigs transferred out and he’s improved the team big time. I look at their roster and I still don’t see how he did it. The whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts.
If we didn't have pike, I think he's the B1G coach I would prefer me. A lot of good coaches in this league.

This is exactly why Iowa will never go far in any major tournament. You live by it and you die by it. Not making the 3 ball means you don't get the drive to the basket either. One helps the other. And since they have no post game either of their screwed.
