Watched NW on BIG10 replay last night. Many thought NW would win or be 2nd in the West Division? What I saw was the Nevada team that could have won the game quite easily. So I feel we have a great shot at the West. That is if we can get our DB's up on the line of scrimmage and prevent all the mis matches that Ark. St was able to create. Couldn't believe we didn't make obvious 1st Quarter adjustments. I think we have a great shot. C'mon Diaco!!

Our problem was Marcus Newby and Alex Davis couldnt cover anyone. The Cbs were fine, Bootle and Lee are a little raw but they'll be fine.

Not sure it is as simple as making adjustments. I think our defense will improve as the season goes on, and I think Diaco played vanilla defense last week. However, we havie a glaring weakness at the OLB position. We need better athletes at that spot.

The crazy thing about college football is that Northwestern fan could say the exact same thing after watching the huskers play, in regards to their chances of winning the west.

You won't see much more of Alex Davis I am guessing. I think Gifford takes that spot, and we really switch up the defense.

I think one game into to the season means very little for Northwestern and Nebraska. Both team have big challenges coming up this week with Duke and Oregon respectively. I think until you get through at least the non con and even one or two games into conference play it is tough to get a true gauge on a team.

We will see I don't know that anyone in the Big Ten west really set notice that they have a strangle hold on the division. Should be a race for the division up until the final weeks with 3-4 teams having a legit shot at it.

Well Alex Davis is basically a DE so he shouldnt be covering anyone except maybe a lineman. Bit of a red flag right there

All this talk about game one, this team versus that...bottom line is that the whole thing resets in a couple of weeks for most BIG teams, and conference play will begin. That's where I begin with the majority of my evaluation of the season. If Nebraska wins this week but loses out to Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern winning the West division that will matter to me. Not a win versus Oregon. What did that win get us last year, exactly besides help get us bowl eligible? Don't get me wrong, I'll take it. But the whole deal doesn't stop or end with week one for me, or week 2...let this thing play out a while (into conference play) and see what we're working with.
I've got a rooting interest in this game as a fan but I'm not sure how much mileage there is in a win versus a loss?
