As the College Baseball tournament season is full swing, and with UNC and Duke are in the Super Regionals (fantastic), has anyone else noticed that my Lenoir Rhyne University Bears are one win away from playing for the D2 National Championship in Cary, NC at the USA Baseball Training Center?

This year's team has already set an all-time record for Home Runs in a season with 136. The previous record was 131. They also have the Southeast Region Player of the year in Sophomore Mckenize Wainright and 3 All American players as well as the Co-Coach of the Year in all of D2.

The Bears will play on Wednesday at 1:30 for the right to play in the National Championship Game. They will have to lose twice to be denied advancing since they are 2-0 in Pod 1 and they will play a one lost team in this game.

My Bears lose 14-10 and finish the season with a record year one game short of the DII Championship Series. A remarkable season as the team set a new DII record for home runs and McKenzie Wainright established a new single season record for hits. Go Bears!

I was filling very bad about how my LR shot itself in the foot in back to back games against Central Missouri until I just watched Northwest Nazarene COMPLETELY fell apart in the bottom of the 9th leading 5 to 1. Tampa scored 5 in the bottom of 9th and scored the go ahead as a Tampa runner scored from 2nd based on a "no reason in the world" throw over to first that went into the next county.

This was not the only error of the bottom of the ninth, just the worse.

And LR's McKenize Wainright, a 4th round draft pick out of high school, may have sealed the deal that he is the BEST D2 player in the country during this tournament.
