but how exactly does only have 2 scholarship quarterbacks really matter? When does a team really play 3 QBs in a year? What are the odds of 2 QBs getting hurt and leaving them with 0 scholarship QBs? Essentially 0
I get that they dont have anyone for scout team during the week, but I dont see how it really matters..

Mississippi will have a walk-on private school QB- State will have a much more highly-touted player in Farvuh....but that wouldn't be a good situation for us either
The thing most Rebels are missing is that we don't think Stanley is going to be worth a **** this year- losing out on Masoli is a huge blow...and if Stanley is the best you got, Mississippi is in real damn trouble if he goes down...personally, I think Russell will be better than Stanley and Russell can't even start for us. I cant wait to find out if I'm right shortly

His grandparents seemed to be happy to hear the news when I called them. Unless something crazy happens there isn't a chance in the world he sees the field this year anyway.
He might relish the chance to play early, but most true walk on freshman would be scared $hitless. I wish him the best though, he does come from a good family.

Not a trick question, just find it a little hypocritical to talk of how Ole Miss has 2 QBs when essentially State does as well. And while the 2 third string QBs you list (although Haggard is in fact, not our 3rd string guy - title belongs to this guy http://www.olemisssports....l/mtt/ingram_evan00.html ) both put up huge numbers in high school, I would not remotely be comfortable with either one (Haggard or Favre) starting for my team.Coach34 said:

He may end up not being worth a ****, however I think from seeing him in practices he may end up an upgrade (not saying much) from last year for us. While on the subject of QBs, honestly what makes state fans feel that comfortable with Relf? Save the " He whooped %*+% a$$ up n down the field!!!!!11!!1" . Once again, no flame, he may end up All-Sec but as we know sometimes players disappoint.
there was that year where Henig kept breaking **** all over his body, and Conner tore his groin or something, and they basically had to dope him up to send him out and hike the ball in the Egg Bowl. I have tried to block those memories, but that year was the year Croom got his reputation as a QB killer.

Henig broke something (collarbone?) and then Josh Riddell blew out his knee, and that left................Wes Carroll.

Seriously, most teams only have 2 good to decent QB's...You get to your third QB and you are going to be hurting no matter what team you are. I think the concern is your OL may have issues which means your QB depth may come into play... Like when Henig was at State our OL was terrible and it didn't help that he was made of glass, but this year our offensive line is suppose to be our strong suit, while Ole Miss's OL isn't so that's why many think your QB depth could come into play.
I don't think there was QB who played under Croom (and there were a lot) who didn't miss time w/ an injury.

B. Stanley is not as good as Snead. I understand optimism, I really do. But this guy has hardly played and didn't look very good when he did. Snead had plenty of experience and while eratic, kind of held things together. ****, Snead almost led you guys back to a win over Bama in T-Town in 08- Stanley ain't that guy right now, Will he ever be? We'll see but I doubt it.
C. Relf? Relf is one of the top returning running QB's in the freaking country and he only played 25% of the time last year. Pollack on ESPN yesterday called him a "stud running QB". Does he have to improve his passing? Hell yeah he does. But we already know he does one thing real damn well. He doesnt have to be Joe Montana for us to move the football- he just have to make some throws each Saturday. So while we are worried a little, in no way are we in the same boat as a team being led by Nathan Stanley

I think they are screwed NOW....if Stanley were to get hurt, it would be awful...and only having a juco and Whit Haggard the rest of the year is a death sentence.

If Tebow got hurt they'd be going to either a redshirt freshman Cam Newton or true freshman in John Brantley. Either way, they'd be screwed. They wouldn't be winning NC or SEC Championships with freshmen QBs starting. No team is going to reach their goals if their first and second string QBs are taken out of the picture.
