Not taking away from this weekend because our guys played their asses off but.....
2011
The SEC got 3 host sites, 7 bids total, with 5/30 RPI's of:
#1, 4, 6, 13, 19, 23, 30, 32, 36, and 38. 3 of those teams did not make it. The 3 national seeds were our only 3 host sites. Of course, it helps our long-term perception, because all 3 not only made Omaha, but did not lose a single game to a non-SEC team there, for a finish of #1, 2, and 3(t).
2010
The SEC got 4 host sites, 8 bids total, with 5/31 RPI's of:
#3, 7, 11, 13, 14, 15, 21, 22, 33, 42. 2 of those teams did not make it.
2009
The SEC got 3 host sites, 8 bids total, with 6/01 RPI's of:
#4, 5, 8, 10, 16, 20, 24, 31, 33, 44, 45. 3 of those teams did not make it.
2008
The SEC got 2 host sites, 9 bids total, with 6/02 RPI's of:
#6, 13, 19, 22, 28, 29, 34, 40, 44, 62. 1 of those teams did not make it.
All these number really tell us are that the committee doesn't much use the RPI deciding these factors. Clearly, being the "hot team" plays a role. It's prettymuch unanimous in the projection sites this season that the SEC gets 4 this year, but it wouldn't be a shock if we got fewer.
