But the whole deal with the 5 yard vs. 15 yard penalty with roughing the kicker is exactly why football needs to do away with stuff like that. Roughing/running into the kicker and the 5 yard/15 yard facemask were done away with in college football and it makes the game so much easier to officiate and does away with so much inconsistency. There's too much variation and too much "gray area" between the two... just make any contact with the punter or any facemask call 15 yards... no questions asked. The "gray area" has already affected the score of this game and COULD affect the outcome of the game... and that shouldn't happen.

Funny, i was just sitting here thinking about how i wish college football had the 5 yard penalty.

College football still has the 5-yard running into the kicker penalty. When they changed the facemask penalty, they didn't do away with the distinction between the old 5-yard vs. 15-yard facemask. The old 5-yard facemask is now a legal play.

I know the severity argument is legitimate, but there is just no way to consistently officiate between the two... and it has clearly made an impact on this game.
