Oughta be a gem. I just realized that Trump is this election's Sara Palin.

Do you think Jon will highlight the biggest liar that's ever run for President, Hillary? Or perhaps the dumbest candidate ever, Biden? Maybe the socialist, Sanders? Perhaps the Republican er Democrat, er Independent, Chafee? Possibly, Baltimore's greatest mayor, pre riot, O'Malley?

What a field of candidates, lol.

No, but FoxNews will be sure to fill up their shows with all that you mentioned. Remember, they are "fair and balanced"....[roll]

That's more an indictment of their viewership than an accolade to hang their hats on
To a point I agree. However, I think the fact they are #1 in ratings shows that potion of the electorate looks to stay informed on the issues. They Fox and the viewing audience should do more diligence in reporting/seeking out all views and do some thinking for themselves. I at least respect the viewing audiences attempt at being informed. A lot better than the liberal idiots that form their opinions on nothing more than what they hear from their buddy, hear some actor/musician POV, or watching parody news TV like the Daily Show (which I think is hilarious and love John Stewart for the entertainment value). The Riggle thing from back in 08/09 on the Code Pink in Berkeley might be one of the best skits I've seen. Sam B's thing on vaccinations was pretty damn amusing as well.

The liberal idiots you mention, oh they certainly exist, but substitute liberal for conservative and "some actore/musician" with Fox News and Rush Limbaugh and unfortunately I think the statement is still largely accurate.

I couldn't agree more with the actor/musician part. That drives me insane. People follow these people and parrot what they say, but these are people that play make-believe for a living. That's all.

I try to stay away from absolutes when talking about human behavior, but I question whether people watch Fox News to stay informed or just to have their opinions validated.

There are certainly going to be some that watch to get the view from the right and then watch something else to get the view from the left, and then maybe try to piece together the truth. However, if this board is a microcosm of our society, I think those people are scarce.

I watch Megyn Kelly but the reasons are obvious. She's smart, sexy, and funny.

I've never listened to Rush and don't think I ever will. I watch some Hannity although he annoys me. When Dubya was President, I never watched it. I like it with Barry as President because I think Fox, despite their slant and bias keeps the heat on and balances out the propaganda from the other news outlets. If it wasn't for Fox, I think Obama would have ran roughshod and unchecked. The zealotry by the left for him is saddening. People actually believed he was going to be different and refuse to accept that he isn't.

I usually watch CNN because I think they do the best job of keeping up with pure news. I do turn them off when Chris Cuomo and his fellow liberal nutjobs Michaela Pereiraumo, Don Lemon,Ashleigh Banfield or Suzanne Malveaux are on. I really like the work that Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper do. I wonder what all are board friends who are constantly worried about "fair and balanced" media have to say about MSNBC.

As for hard news, Brett and Shep are straight. Their opinion shows vary a great deal. Greta and Megyn are pretty centrist. O'Reilly is much more conservative but has some lib leanings (e.g hates big oil) as well. Hannity is hard right. But even on their opinion shows, they always have some far left reps.

Not sure why libs get their panties in a wad over Fox. Libs have CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN and MSNBC in their pockets. They also have every late night comedy show. Not to mention the HBO's of the world.

I used to listen to Hannity on the radio on the way home from work when Dubya was president. Much of what he was saying ran counter to what I was reading elsewhere, but I also liked all of the events that he did for the troops and all of that. To this point, I've seen no positives from Rush, just a pompous windbag.

I have no issue with the slant and bias honestly, I think it's important to listen to what other sides think. Where I start to have issues is when people are so biased that they can't objectively look at facts. Confirmation bias, they only look at what confirms what they already think.

I think Fox just goes too far in stirring the pot at times. They are always talking about the war on religion (and other things). There is no war on religion, there is a recognition that we aren't a theocracy and therefore our laws don't need to follow what any particular religion says. It just seems we already have enough problems getting along without a news outlet telling people it's way worse than they ever thought. It just causes people to dig in their heels more and creates a bigger divide.

I also need to point out that I don't think Fox has the market cornered on any of that stuff. I honestly don't watch news much at all, I mostly read from different sources. When people get too concerned about their "brand" I think they lose sight of integrity. Left or right.

This touches on what I mentioned in another post about people being worried about their "brand". Also, that is when the "news" channels go from news to opinion pieces, and too few can't tell the difference or are too influenced by those opinions.

Metaphor my child. If you are taking anything Jon Stewart says with anything more than a chuckle and a grain of salt, I feel sad for you.
That's the neat thing about satire, it can be hilarious and very true at the same time.

The right doesn't get satire and they don't do nuance! lol.
I know, you guys are so much more "enlightened" than us crazies who actually understand things like debt, national defense, and economic problems. Much better to just laugh at those very real situations and keep voting for unqualified people because you know, that's the position of the court jesters and people who play make believe for a living.

I don't think that anyone was saying that Stewart was a news source on this or any other matter. This stuff with Trump is perfect fodder for political satirists though, and I'm sure that Stewart nailed Trump to the wall on this. Stewart's just very good at this game. I don't think for a second that Keyser or Bama are taking Stewart for anything other than entertainment.

If by understanding satire you mean enlightened than I agree. Otherwise, keep thinking satire is laughing at serious subjects and I'll keep thinking you don't understand it. The qualifications to be president are pretty easy, I bet you would qualify too so not sure if you mean unqualified or unwilling to enact the vision you have for Government, two different things.

He's technically correct. The qualifications for the office are detailed in the Constitution. I'm qualified by definition, and I suspect many of us on here are as well. Anyone who has done any hiring knows that there is a difference between a candidate that meets the minimum qualifications and a good candidate.

You have touted the technical correctness of a bunch of ill speaking libs right here. I don't know what you are qualified to do other than what you write here. I have actually hired and employed hundreds in my career. So, technically speaking, am I qualified?

Most likely. The qualifications are that you are a natural born citizen and that you are at least 42 years of age.

A bunch of ill speaking libs, lol, you are a hoot. Did you employ everyone you hired or hire everyone you employed?

"Did you employ everyone you hired"? At least you are consistent in your ability to say stupid stuff.
