That was painful and embarrassing.

Indya is a great defensive player but she cannot be the #1 option for offense.

In the half court we have got to rethink things. It would really help if R Kelly could find her shooting touch.
Grant is pretty reliable for 9 or 10 points, Harris is solid also but we need to score with 6 or seven players unless we want to average 50 points per game.

Right now I am not sure this team will make it into the NCAA tournament. Heartbreaking.

Games like today and a few others show you what Utsby did for this team the last years. The staff does not drive effort and there seems to be little pride outside of Lanie on this team now. She plays hard but impact is less as the other guards have the ball in their hands more often by design.
Stop it. AU is gone, and last years team did the same crap, just stop it!

Harris played with great effort today and always does. As much as I liked AU, I don't think adding another 50% FT shooter is what this team needs.

I would not say IN by herself. The whole team except for NH did not show up today. Inexcusable. The two players that we knew going into the game that needed to be contained killed us. Apparently, the coaching staff did not watch the tape on how do beat them. I stated this above. Get the ball out of HH hands by sending two or maybe 3 players at her when she starts to dribble downhill and limit the number of points Prosper scores. Force the other players to beat you. It might be time for a change.

PonsterM, you can say what you want to say about HD, but you have to admit they did win. That is the difference. It does not matter how you win, whether it be by one point or by a blowout, you find a way to win. The men's team has a better record than the women's team. So, trying to compare CB with HD right now is a no go. The men won yesterday. They did not let WF beat them at home. We cannot say this about CB. We lost two games at home. You have to win your home games period. Let us stick to CB right now.

LG cannot defend. That is her problem. When she got ripped, she did not hustle back. She just jogged back. AU would have hustled back. That is not a good comparison. This team is having the same problem as last year. It starts with coaching.
UNC had 6 assists and 22 turnovers. IN (27 mins) had 6 TOs and LG (31 mins) had 4. They combined for 13 points (IN, 4) and LG (9}.Kelly played 36 mins and was 3-12 from the floor. Will CB make the needed adjustments?

I am not sure if there is an adjustment CB can make. Teams all play to pressure our guards up top and it does not appear anyone can control the ball under pressure except R Kelly and since her injury she cannot shoot.

WE tried telling Y'ALL a long time ago about CB lack of Coaching, but y'all didn't want to hear it. Starting doing charts, and circle graphs, to try and defend her. Seven years later what we were saying still is true. CB is not the answer for UNCWBB. It is what it is! Change is needed in Chapel Hill!
You know it's really bad when all posters on here last year that defended her are no where to be found. There is nothing that you can say to defend CB at this point. Unfortunately, she is not going anywhere.

I have been a constant CB defender. In my opinion she is one of the best defensive coaches in the country.

She overhauled both her offensive and defensive schemes in the off-season. She started using the Hubert switch everything early in the season, but has changed back to her hedge from previous years. That has been a struggle switching back. We lack quickness to defend.

Her new offense is a dribble handoff mess that needs players who can get downhill. She has no one that can get down hill but Henderson and she never plays. She has taken Nyla Brooks from a three level scorer to a "stand behind the 3" player. Today, we needed to dominate inside, but could not figure out how to do that. Every team we play has a better offensive scheme.

I have lost all confidence in CB right now. I projected this year for us to take the next step and become a consistent top 10 program. I was wrong.

Yea for you.
Sadly, dont think the results will differ much. Something is off.

We’ve had top players before and they haven’t lived up to their hype. Injuries aside, CT was a top 10 player and couldn’t hold her own on the court today. NB just floats around the 3 point line. Not seeing the full potential. TH has talent but not seeing the court enough to develop.

Aside from AU, we don’t have a story. We can’t keep up with other teams in developing talent and getting production from them. Many examples of teams getting production and results with lesser talent and equally young players.

No way Sarah strong would be the player or have the results she’s had, had she come to us. Unlikely she would have even seen close to the minutes she has so far.

We have a game coming up Thursday with 11-6 (3-3) Miami. It is our home game. If it is not a win, we are in serious trouble. CB needs to start motivating her players to think "tournament" as a mindset. Last year we lost 5 games in conference. So far, we have three losses and 13 games left to play. What does the math tell us? Lose to Miami, four losses with 12 to play. Win half those games, we are 8-10. NCAA? Try WNIT or WBIT.

CB and staff need to understand that our season is on the line. Now. Get it going.

I'm beginning to agree that there is something wrong somewhere. We have too much talent to play like this. Being outscored by 17 in the third quarter is pathetic. CB says that the team will learn from these games. Learning curve needs to be over or we are looking at 9-9 ACC.
Its what I said last game, but I’m starting to worry the other players are starting to “get infected” by it.

India Nivar needs to be your 3rd best player on a team, not your “senior leader”

Reniya Kelly is hurting this team almost every second she is on the floor…and she is on the floor more than anyone.

Two plays really stuck out to me, and just made me feel like the team as a whole has a weak, loser mentality.
  1. First half Hidalgo steals it from Brooks, with two other UNC players near the play (Brooks, Kelly, and Grant). Not a single one even hustled back to try to contest the layup.
  2. Second half Hidalgo steals it from Kelly for probably the 3rd time, Grant has an opportunity to contest the layup or at the very least make a somewhat hard foul to tell the other team we actually cared about playing. Grant makes a halfhearted effort to act like she contested shot
At that point of the game, after getting embarrassed for the entire second half you better believe Hidalgo would be sitting on her a** after attempting that layup and I would be daring the refs to call a flagrant on me. Nothing dirty but I’m putting enough of a body on to Hidalgo she would have to make an incredible play to hit that layup.

Hate to use a criticism often tossed at Tar Heel football/mbb teams, but this team looks soft. Not sure if that's culture or roster construction or coaching or all of the above, but they don't punch back. It's a noticeable drop off from last year, where there was arguably less talent but more toughness.
This 1000%, and see my last post that references the same thing.
