Stop it. AU is gone, and last years team did the same crap, just stop it!Games like today and a few others show you what Utsby did for this team the last years. The staff does not drive effort and there seems to be little pride outside of Lanie on this team now. She plays hard but impact is less as the other guards have the ball in their hands more often by design.
Harris played with great effort today and always does. As much as I liked AU, I don't think adding another 50% FT shooter is what this team needs.Games like today and a few others show you what Utsby did for this team the last years. UNC had 6 assists and 22 turnovers. IN (27 mins) had 6 TOs and LG (31 mins) had 4. They combined for 13 points (IN, 4) and LG (9}.Kelly played 36 mins and was 3-12 from the floor. Will CB make the needed adjustments?LG cannot defend. That is her problem. When she got ripped, she did not hustle back. She just jogged back. AU would have hustled back. That is not a good comparison. This team is having the same problem as last year. It starts with coaching.
I am not sure if there is an adjustment CB can make. Teams all play to pressure our guards up top and it does not appear anyone can control the ball under pressure except R Kelly and since her injury she cannot shoot.UNC had 6 assists and 22 turnovers. You know it's really bad when all posters on here last year that defended her are no where to be found. There is nothing that you can say to defend CB at this point. Unfortunately, she is not going anywhere.WE tried telling Y'ALL a long time ago about CB lack of Coaching, but y'all didn't want to hear it. Starting doing charts, and circle graphs, to try and defend her. Seven years later what we were saying still is true. CB is not the answer for UNCWBB. It is what it is! Change is needed in Chapel Hill!
Sadly, dont think the results will differ much. Something is off.Yea for you.
Today is a terrible setback for the program. It has reached its ceiling under Banghart and looks like it is dropping back now.
Its what I said last game, but I’m starting to worry the other players are starting to “get infected” by it.I'm beginning to agree that there is something wrong somewhere. We have too much talent to play like this. Being outscored by 17 in the third quarter is pathetic. CB says that the team will learn from these games. Learning curve needs to be over or we are looking at 9-9 ACC.
This 1000%, and see my last post that references the same thing.Hate to use a criticism often tossed at Tar Heel football/mbb teams, but this team looks soft. Not sure if that's culture or roster construction or coaching or all of the above, but they don't punch back. It's a noticeable drop off from last year, where there was arguably less talent but more toughness.
Banghart landed Harpring. She has two more years at least.I'm in the 'Banghart needs to be thanked for her contributions and let go' camp, but as other posters have said, that's not going to happen. But 2 things.
First, there still is time to right the ship, this season. We've all got a very bad taste in our mouths right now, but a W on Thursday against Miami, and things will look better.
Second (unrelated to first): hypothetical question. Just how bad of a win-loss record would be needed to get the right people to pay attention to the fact that maybe a coaching change should be entertained? Or, is it not win-loss, but how bad would recruiting results have to become? The best players are not going to want to come here, if we are not consistently in the Top 15, and if (as other posters have noted) the seats are empty. Is anybody paying attention?
Nope.We had a very bad day Sunday but I think we can and will play better. I agree with a lot of the posts but we are not as bad a team as we showed
I do think we need to find some other option other than Indya in the middle. She is a great teammate and defensive player and team leader but it is not fair to her to make her the #1 go to option on offense. That is just not her skillset.
Our best look recently has been high low with Toomey and Harris. Taissa Q and Taliya Henderson both have good potential at those spots. Blanca has potential also, she just has to make some good plays.
Perimeter play it would really help if RKelly our best dribbler could find last seasons game, if she can't E Aarnisalo is our only real good option at PG IMO. Aarnisalo should play more minutes at PG plus some time at 2G. Lanie G is a good spot up shooter 38% but not very strong with the ball.
I would keep bringing Nyla Brooks and Taliyah Henderson and Laila Hull along to build for next year. Our young players have got to grow up on the court and play to their talents. This season is half over. Its time to get our game's going.
I half jokingly said to one of my friends could we just leave Nivar on the defensive end? I know, I don‘t mean to pick on IN, she has heart, is a very good athlete and is a Tarheel through and through. She has just never been a great offensive player and the three’s she was hitting earlier seem to have disappeared. There is still time. We need to get our confidence and joy of the game back.We had a very bad day Sunday but I think we can and will play better. I agree with a lot of the posts but we are not as bad a team as we showed
