Isn't that the guy the Elliot and a lot of OSU fans were blaming for the MSU loss?
May as well go for the trifecta and test the waters with Urban, too.
Oh god, what the hell they couldn't have done this a couple years ago when I was pounding the table on Herman like I am now on Aranda. Late to the party. I'm not as big on any of the OSU staff after Herman. Warriner did some good stuff at Kansas as OC but this year they've had issues without Herman. I'd take Ash over him but I'm not enamored by either.

lots of problems with the O this year, Buckeye fans don't think he's a great recruiter...he's also older? Great O-line coach, but head guy????
I like Warriner. He does excellent OL work and was the brains behind KU's 2007 Orange Bowl run. Can't believe KU didn't hire him last winter. He can be a little brash, but he's a good coach.
A lot of the offensive issues this year are not all on Warriner. They brought in Tim Beck from Nebraska to help with the O and he is terrible and I think it's hurt them more than its helped.

Ash is a much better choice between the two imo.
No. Tim Beck was calling plays from the box, while co-coordinator Warinner stayed on the field with the O-line and helped prepare the game plans. Warinner was moved to the box for the OSU/Michigan game and called the plays. The OSU fans are running a Hire Tim Beck campaign, as he called plays throughout most of the year and was hired to replace Tom Herman.
Additionally, regarding Warinner, OSU fans trashed their O-line and O-line coach throughout the Tressel era (2001-2010). Warinner joined with Urban in 2012. OSU fans LOVE Warinner.
He did a decent job at Kansas from what I've read before was the OC the year they went to the Orange Bowl. Why didn't Urban let him call the plays when Herman was around and then again even after Herman left if he's that good.

Call me skeptical. Wouldn't be shocked if this was floated by OSU. Pump up how great their staff is.
My understanding is this...
Warinner is a great O-line coach and his O-lines at OSU have been dominant. Last year, they were grinding meat against Alabama.
Urban stated many times that it is best to have the O-line coach on the field for in-game adjustments and that he preferred his play-caller to be in the booth.
I think Warinner called plays from the field early, but Urban thought the process took too long and that they couldn't go uptempo with a playcaller on the field.
After the Michigan game (where Warinner was in the booth for the 1st time with OSU and called the plays), Urban praised Warinner but said he couldn't have had his O-line coach in the booth with a less experienced O-line. Urban said it only worked because 4 of the 5 starting O-linemen were playing with 2 full seasons of experience.
Could be, but not sure what purpose that serves on their part. And from everything I've read on OSU boards, the fans at least really like Ash.
Could I instead interest you a Tim Beck model offensive coordinator? How do you feel about an all QB draw offense? Especially out of the 5 wide set?

Their staff IS great and he would be a huge improvement over the clown we had here until Sunday.
To expand, what better way to promote your staff than to say he decided to stay at OSU rather than be a HC at another B1G school? It doesn't even matter whether it's true or not. Not saying RU is a threat to OSU but when you pounding someone up against the ropes on the field and in recruiting, you don't back off.
Except that Flood was no longer co-offensive coordinator when he took the HC job and in 2010 when he was co-offense coordinator for all of 1 season, Rutgers had one of the worst offense under Schiano's tenure

Most programs are hiring coordinators, even big P5 ones. If we are not going to get the home run, this could be this years Herman or Narduzzi with NJ recruiting ties.
