Now that the Yankees have been swept, let's talk about their team for a minute..

Has there ever been a more dismal post-season performance than what they showed in the 4 ALCS games? 22 hits and 6 runs over 4 games. Just plain pitiful. Add to that, the zoo that is the NY media and it was an absolute train wreck happening in front of our eyes. In 39 innings of the ALCS play, the Yankees scored in 3 of them.

So what happens to the team now? It's no secret they have a few albatross contracts... most notably A-Rod. I really hope the Marlins don't bail them out of it. Jeter now has to come back from surgery and that's generally not very easy for someone over 35.... I hope he comes back cause he's such a class act, but I just wouldn't get my hopes up.

It was so wierd to see guys like Cano and Granderson struggle, too. Completely baffling to see how awful the whole team played these 4 games.

Discuss MSU much? See more post from you about cards than STATE. Maybe this is the wrong board for you.

Cano and the Grandy man just went into a bad slump at the end. I can see them going after Josh Hamilton Zach Greinke and David Wright, trading Arod but paying much of his salary. Deep pockets have the Empire.

I'm interested to see if/where A-Rod is traded to

I keep hearing Miami, which makes a lot of sense with the Yankees picking up the entire contract. If that's true OUCH!

They wanted him gone too

His contract didn't give them any flexibility to get what they needed- which was pitching. They almost had a trade with the Red Sox- I even remember some A-Rod Red Sox jerseys- but of course, the Yankees got him.

I don't know if it's karma- baseball players tend to break down after 36 in general.

According to twitter the last time the Yankees were swept in a championship

series, MSU beat Bama 6-3 that same year.

Pursuing Josh Hamilton with big money is playing with fire. His body has already started breaking down. In Texas he has lots of people and teamates surrounding him to help keep tabs on him and keep him accountable. You think he's going to have that in Boston or New York ?

True, but he was pretty insistent on getting out of there to a team that was going to win titles. And, to his credit, they did get one. But I think Texas got the better end of that deal.

Yes on the age. It's not the Ranger's fault the Yankees re-signed him for an extra 10 years; that's all on the Yankees. The original deal had his contract up next season.

The Yankees died when Jeter broke his ankle. It's Jeter's team. It's tough in baseball for one player to mean that much to a team but the one guy the Yankees can't survive without is Derek Jeter.

if I am Theo, I have already talked to the Yankees

if the yankees are eating 90million, you are giving me a 5yr 5million Arod at 3rd for the Cubs, I am all over that.

If he does turn it on you can send him to whatever contender gives you the best return, like they did with Maholm last year.
If his wrist is 17ed up and it is a bust you have Arod breaking records in the future

who gives a **** about postseason success, the cubs ain't going for 2 years ...maybe ever agains
Kidding on the last line, but I almost see this as a no brainer for the Cubs

Also factor in the Yankees are going to be hot after a 3b and drive the price up on the remaining guys, that the Cubs are actually after

While

Jeter is one of the greatest Yankees ever, I can assure you they will not "die" without him. They're the greatest sports franchise ever. They were before him, and they will be after him.
