in a row a little over a week ago and it's difficult to beat a good to better than average team four times in a row. It's also difficult to win two in a row against LSU. I'm thinking we may not get a #2 seed and just hope that we don't end up in godforsaken Californication in a regional (if there's one out there).

and what happens, happens. And if we win, play to win Saturday and Sunday too. Hopefully, though, we win with guys that haven't pitched in a while. I guess we brought Cox and Fitts and some of the others, so pitch them.

while you may say play to win, we need to play to stay healthy.

Our Catcher has caught an extreme amount of games this year, he needs a day off...
Our 3rd is on 1 leg, he needs the day off
winning tmrw and sat do nothing to help you

I would much rather push our guys next week in a regional to go to a super than to lace up sat against UK and their best pitcher...

Ammirati C

Britton 2B

Rest the guys like Forence said, Slauter, Norris, even Brownlee who is injury prone.
Those 3-6 hitters need all the AB's they can get.
I want Britton to start over Frost going forward, he's been hitting lately.

and come on home tonight. Or we can play Frost at 3rd, catch Amiratti, give a young pitcher an opportunity, and play to win.

surely wouldn't want to start a bad hitter over a better one just because he's been "hot" lately? <div>

out of respect for the game, but this tournament format is a joke. You lose a game, and your pitching staff is done.

I think Britton is better than Frost based on nothing more than watching him live all season.

So when it comes to bunting, you're all about looking at the stats entirely, but when it comes to who is a better, you throw stats out the window and go with your gut?<div>

I have no doubt we will play to win. On what planet do these people think john cohen is gonna not be competitive?

Sam Frost 10/49 .204
Matthew Britton 9/44 .205

Both numbers are awful so I guess pick your poison. Hope Detz is a ball player or Britton gets better, I think both are true. Frost hasn't shown the ability after his 3 years here to make me believe he will make the jump.

to State....in any sport..ever. Sometimes I feel like it's written in the contract for all their corches that losing to us is totally unacceptable...goes back a long way.

No reason to hope for a loss tomorrow. It will probably happen anyway, but if we make it to Saturday and beat Kentucky then, there's still a chance to host.

and if we win- fine. But I dont want to see us going deep in the pen while we are playing our 4th game in a row. We've had a good Tourney- but Graveman is hurt and we arent bringing back Stratton.

Tandem Mitchell and Lindgren and see where we stand after 7-8 innings. But no 5-6 pitcher game for us

It would depend on who we throw tomorrow, but are Cox or Fitts possible options? If I were guessing I would say no but we are running low on viable options. Do we use Mitchell, Lindgren, maybe a few others tomorrow, and try and save Routt or Pollorenafor a Saturday start?

At this point I don't care. We are going to get a 2 seed in a regional and I'm really not a fan of us playing 5, possibly even 6straight days trying to win a conference tournament.I know it would be great for the team, but the prospect of playing 5 or 6 days in a row this late in the season with this young of a team doesn't seem like a best case scenario going into a regional with cross country travel a possibility. We are still banged up, we've fought hard the last month, and I'm happy with what we've done to this point. If injuriesweren't as big a player as they currently are, my attitude would bedifferent. But right now, we need a week off going into regional play.

if we beat LSU and have to play UK.

And then start Pollo if we beat UK unless we're playing Florida. And in that case, I would start Woodruff and let him go three and then go to the bullpen and try to piece it together as well as I possibly could. I would probably go with Reed in inning 4-5, then Bracewell for 6-7, and finish up with Holder. If Bracewell can't go two, I would use Stark for an inning.

We need innings out of Evan Mitchell- it sure would be nice for us if he has the game of his life.

If we make it to Sunday, he'd probably be the only pitcher we have who hadn't pitched yet

that is a great tactic... i think we should adopt it in all sports across the board.

This is our STATE:

we QUIT!

i thought you were saying play to win, meaning if we have the lead in the 8th or 9th ...throw reed and holder.

yeah we need to play guys that haven't had a chance to play.
We earned today in allowing them to play in a meaningful game, but doesn't matter (in the long run) to us if we win or lose.
Anybody with any type of nagging injury should not be in the roster today.

My point was that there's no reason to throw a game here. We may have to play 5 games in 4 days in a regional. It sure wouldn't hurt us to play 5 games this week to get some of those pitchers deep in the rotation (and bullpen) some work. I'm not suggesting that we even consider bringing Stratton (or even Woodruff) back in this tournament or that we overwork our top relievers. Just saying that playing 5 games in 5 days, then having 5 days of rest before the regional isn't asking too much from a baseball team. </p>

you want us to go all out on a game ...that if we win would then allow us to do the samething tmrw ...and extend a team already young and hurt so if we even got to sun, we might have a shot at hosting against either the hottest team in the nation, the best team on paper in the nation, or the back to back national champions

I want whatever players we put out there to go 110% on every play. And I want that to be most of our usual starters. We could give Slauter a day or not. I wouldn't mind sitting Norris IF his knee still is a hindrance. If not put him on the field.

Without overusing our arms I want us to try to win this damn thing. These are 18-22 yr old athletes playing baseball, I'm sure they have played in more games in a shorter amount of time than this.
