Two candidates from nearby states of "rival" schools. Can't wait to see this board light up if it ends up being a Hawkeye or Wildcat. I don't know this provost from K-State, I knew the one a provost or two ago.

just in case anyone else wanted the definition:

Dirt Burglars
Derogatory term for the University of Oklahoma, it's students and/or alumni. Based on the fact that a 'Sooner' is someone who cheated and jumped the gun when the US government gave away the useless land that makes up the state in 1889.

Ronnie Greene is extremely qualified and a helluva good guy. He could step in day one seamlessly and I think he is highly thought of by some substantial donors. I am underwhelmed by the resumes of some of the other finalists and Greene is a known commodity.

Husker fan here who works at K-State. Do not hire April Mason. I find her honesty level questionable. She has approved decisions that undermine my department without ever consulting our staff or hearing our side. When Brownback's tax cuts (warning: political content ahead) blew massive holes in the state budget, she accepted a hefty raise while the rest of our salaries were frozen and programs were cut. Her outlook seems to be that it is more important to be a woman chancellor than a good chancellor. And I'm a Democrat who will vote for Hillary if she is the nominee. The only reason I'd want UNL to take Dr. Mason is to take her off our hands. My 2 cents worth.

Unfortunately people that companies or universities are trying to get rid of tend to get very good references from their bosses. I continue to be amazed by some of the incompetent people that get promoted up the chain because of that. Due diligence HAS to include some undercover detective work to find out what co-workers and supervisors from previous stops really think about the applicant's qualifications and history. Huge hire that has serious ramifications if it's not a good one.
